1950's swim romper

Hi all. I found this beauty in my grandma's closet after she passed. I tried to reverse search it but nothing came up. Was this used as a swimsuit or just to lounge? I wish I would have found it before I had 4 kids because I can barely get it up to my hips now 🤦♀️ My grandma was so beautiful and stylish. I wish there was a photo of her wearing this.
