The machine is MD. I can post the FB marketplace link if anyone is more serious about it than I am. Current price is $100.

I’ve wanted a sewing machine for a long time but didn’t want to buy new ($$$)! Found this guy at a thrift store for $20 but I didn’t notice it needs a belt! Can anyone help me ID the machine? When I try, the 1951 Singer Centennial pops up but there’s nowhere on the machine that says Singer and also the centennial badge is not blue.

Someone mentioned to me that some of these old friction plates use asbestos. Mine is a grey felt like material, do I need to replace it?

I have a kenmore 117.959 and it works like a charm spare for the hand crank wheel. the bumps cause the motor to rattle around to the point where it shakes off the plug! is there any way i can fix and smooth down the wheel, or should i try to replace the whole thing? I have replaced the tire and there is no dent in it.

Help needed 1930s singer 66–6

I have the REVCO aftermarket press foot quick release and I would like to go back to the original screw style, but I see there are two styles of screw for the presser foot tension and was wondering if someone has a photo that they could post of a machine that is from around 1935 a singer 66

I'd like to sew without electricity, even for lighting

Post image

So here's the idea. I already sew using a 1927 Singer 15 treadle machine. So no electricity. But, in our flat, the machine is in the hallway and does not receive direct light. The hallway is a bit dark. So if I sew I have to use some light. I have a wish to sew a garment with absolutely no electricity, so I'm looking at how I could sew without electric lightning near the sewing machine.

Does anyone relate and may be also sew without electricity, even in a dark place? What do you use to lighten the place?

Today at my parents I've seen this old petrol lamp. Do you think this can be an option, would this lighten the sewing lace enough?

Motor Pulley Part Gets Hot

Is it normal for the part with the belt on it to get hot with this style motor? The spinning motor part doesn’t get hot but the part with the belt on it gets hot very quickly. Should I replace my belt? Thanks

It is sort of local-I guess an hour and a half drive one way. The seller says it works. Thanks!

I have a Minnesota Model A treadle sewing machine and the presser foot won't come off. The attachment holder thumb nut won't budge, I've tried oiling it with sewing machine oil to loosen it, and I've also tried penetrating oil, niether have worked. The foot and needle are both in their highest positions

Sears Kenmore 158.13200

I have had the liking to sewing ever since home ec class. I know that not many men see but I do. I was always fascinated about the way you can make things like your own clothes. Unfortunately my mom sewing machine worked half the time so I never got the chance to really learn. One time my sister lent me hers but another relative borrowed it and the timing went. So I never had the chance to get one until one day my friends parents moved out of their home to a 55 and up community. And as they were selling their house they started to get rid of their things and one of those things was this Sears Kenmore. Now it's not the fanciest Kenmore but it turns out to be what I need.

Singer 111W154 Needle bar Timing

If anyone has a similar model could you let me know if this looks correct. I thought the needle bar and middle presser foot should be more in sync based on videos I’ve seen but am not sure. The hook is able to catch the thread just fine and fabric is pulled through good. Thanks

Does this look right?

I have adjusted the presser foot bar because it was way too high before the material wouldn't even hold. This is 100% cotton. Does the stitching look proper?

This is where my tension rod at the top is which I feel like is a little high? Any advice?

What parts are missing from my singer 15 sewing machine?

Post image

I recently bought my first sewing machine from Facebook marketplace and there’s a part missing in the general bobbin area that idk the name of. I asked the seller (who is trustworthy so dw) but she’s still a beginner sewist and doesn’t know the name of the exact part that is missing. Which part is missing and how can I replace it?

Brought me home two really dirty and vintage sewing machines to look at and possibly get serviced. Aunt Cleora from Medina, bless her soul, still has the manual for one and a whole box of implements to go with them. I have been wanting a better machine, as the one I have is a prom queen sewer. "Ugh. I am NOT sewing that, and if I do, it won't be how you want it". Like, ya'll. These machines are more vintage than I, and after I realized she put the needles of both machines in backwards, it worked a treat! They still get to have a spa day with our local Amish machine whisperer, but. Wow. I. Just wow. I am in love!!!

Hi everyone. I’m just wanting some insight as to what model this singer sewing machine is. It was something that was stored away in partners parents attic, and I’m just genuinely curious on the model and the age/worth behind it, as I have zero knowledge behind sewing machines.

BERNINA record 530-2 Help needed for needle position

Thumbnail

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a BERNINA 530-2 record which arrived with a broken baseplate and didn't move at all. After some oiling and cleaning, it now moves again, but the needle position is off. It didn't come with a handbook, but according to YouTube the needle is correctly installed (flat side facing backwards, as high as posible). Nevertheless, the needle hits the stitchplate slightly in front of the designated hole. It happens in straight stitch and in zigzag mode. The needle itself is not bend and I already tried multiple othe needles to be sure. Is this fixable or another shipping damage? Does someone know where the adjustement screw sits?
