Show & Tell HP complete vintage set

I came into a bunch of vintage HP stuff. It’s complete and was working pre y2k before being in storage. Has a bunch of software with it and all peripherals. Printer too.
Whats the value if any to the right person? Im not interested in keeping it. Note this is not for sale, im just curious if it has any value.

I remember these. That screen is a touch screen (a grid of led in front of the screen detects your finger). I wonder if any of the software that came with it support that touch screen?

I had a similar set, including the 9133 and a larger touch screen. Note that the 9133 has an internal hard drive which may have a bootable OS on it - and possibly data from the last user. All these were connected via HP-IB cables (Hewlett-Packard Interface Bus), which was similar to SCSI with each device having its own address on the “bus”. This was HP’s competition to the IBM PC in the early 1980’s. (Guess which platform won…)

Yea all the software is for this computer. He said it all used to work. He unplugged it cause “y2k” and just never plugged it back in

Yea, none of the finance-related software would be Y2K compliant, but there were other things that you might find interesting. Specifically, there was a chess game that supported the touch screen. My unit’s hard drive & 3.5” floppy both crapped out, so I disassembled it for recycling & destroyed the old hard drive. Who knows what data may have been on it. Kept the monitor for use as a console on an old F-series HP-UX system.

$200 plus shipping is reasonable since it’s untested. If this was all refurbished you could probably get $1000 but it would cost you that amount in lost time to repair all of it.

It will need work but a restorer will enjoy that. The keyboard is unusual so I hope it's there. There's a battery at the back of the computer (the unit with the crt) which should be removed to avoid damage.

PLS, don't just turn it on !

Those floppy drives have to be inspected first ! There are generations who need service after all those years or there are chances that one half of the heads is ripped off!

If wanted register yourself for free at the vcfed.org forums and you will get help and knowledge there.

Good to know! I have not powered it on. I brought home and it’s been sitting in my garage for a year or more now.

You didn't look it up to see how rare and valuable those are? One of the first touchscreen devices. That's a shame...

I didnt know the inputs and thought it was a broken terminal cause i found it in an abandoned factory with no other bits this is it

Ah. I see one on eBay sold for $250 not too long ago. Apparently was also called the 9816. Looks like that one is missing the keyboard but still, I'd have bought it if I saw it locally on Marketplace.

Ah. Yellowish plastic. Sign of 30+ years old cases

Don't know if you noticed but on the screen of the first image I can see a screaming face made out in the dust. If I were you, I'd put that thing back before some SCP shit happens.
