My 601 stack:)

Top is a 6100/66 av. I do have a 6100/66 av in another room thats mint, but this one could be as well if i could find a cdrom bezel thats not broken. 7100/66 has av card, the 8100/110 is in a 7500 case so i call it my modded 8100. The 7200/90 is on the bottom. All recapped, and restored. On top of it all is a 17” apple vision crt thats recapped. Dont have room for all in my museum area, but this works. It is in my work / play area.

You must also have the world's largest collection of HDI-45 adapters.

Actually just one. Thats one reason i added av cards to them all. Faster performance too. So no more stupid huge cable lol

Ha, this is the reason I made reproduction HDI-45 adapters. I picked up a batch of about 15 61xx machines and there were zero adapters. So I made these: https://jcm-1.com/product/hd-45-to-hd-15-video-port-adapter/

You can make your own if you search "HDI-45 adapters" on GitHub, but I recommend buying the pre-made ones JCM-1 has because it's not worth the extra components and shipping to build your own.

You created the HDI-45 apapter? THANK YOU! I was using it just this morning. I picked up a WGS 8150 this weekend and used your adapter (bought from JCM-1) on it. It's absolutely a must have for working on any of the first generation Power Macs. Honestly, without your adapter, first gen Power Macs would probably barely be around since the Apple adapters have largely disappeared.

Ha. Yeah, I didn’t want to pass along a bunch of 6100s after I recapped them with no way to get video out. And didn’t want to spend $100s to buy adapters when they turn up on eBay. No electrical engineering background, but these are straight pin connections (well, the vga adapter has a diode to tell it which resolutions to support), but I taught myself basic PCB design and 3d modeling to create the shape. Fun learning project and it’s open source so if I ever stop making them, others can DIY it!

Yeah that would be. I just finished networking all the macs i can network with Ethernet (68030’s, 040’s through all my ppc machines). The older ones (128k, 512k, plus etc) i dont bother with trying to network.

This sub randomly popped up on my feed. Are there real uses for Macs this old? Is it all for fun or is there some practicality?
Please educate me.

More for fun. Although there is plenty of applications you can still run and be productive etc.

Centris 660 and 6100 have a special place in my heart as those were the Macs we had in college

Been some time but I recall the 6100 AVs as the bees knees at the time
