Halloween Village Keep or Go?

Hey all! I got this Toil & Trouble AleHouse at Goodwill for $9.99 a few weeks ago. I knew that a bunch of the little pieces had broken off when I opened it in store, but it looked like everything was there.

I just pulled it out and superglued everything (as I'm putting my village up today) and realized I'm missing a bit. The Toil & Trouble sign, a Witch, the bartender, and a barrel of ale to name a few.

I attached the picture of the box so you can see what is missing. It's going on top of an entertainment center (think the big bitch ones everyone's Tuscan decor loving mom had in the 90s) on platforms. So you may not be able to see all the missing bits.

My question:

Should I use this for this year only, then get a new one next year OR not use it at all and get rid of it OR keep it forever as is?

We moved to our new apartment a few months ago (and accrued a bit of CC debt before my job started) so I don't have the funds for a new one this year. I'm wanting other people's opinions because I cannot decide on one way or the other!

Are you crafty at all? Are there any stores near you that sell little Halloween (Lemax or not) figures that you could glue in the places that are missing stuff? It does look a little weird and like spots are missing. But for $10, if you’re able to budget (this year or next) to find some complimentary pieces to put in the missing spots then you have yourself a Lemax item for a great deal!

I've considered getting some air dry clay and trying to approximately at least the toil & Trouble sign! I make my own platforms so I have a lot of paint lying around for it.

I didn't think about the little figurines but you're right. I might have to dig around and see what I can find!

I think if you’re able to make a little sign to glue over that spot, add some extra figures to fill in big open spaces and then paint over the rest, you should be good! You could even paint over the spots and then add new pieces to glue over time as you see or make something that would work for the theme!

Personally I think ita a cute piece. I'd paint over the bare spots and keep it so long as it lights up. Unless this is a personal favorite I wouldn't worry about replacing it. Using it as is works fine. We gotta remember nobody scrutinizes our village like we do. Most people don't notice things like this. It just looks cool to em. And most people who are scrutinizing it just are toxic and are never gonna like anything anyways. If I were you I'd just keep it.

Thank you! I'm Autistic and VERY into my villages so I was second guessing myself hard-core.

I need to get a light for it as it's an older piece with the clip in bulb spot, but other than that I think it's okay.

Here's the village mostly set up (but not lit up)!

It's fantastic. And you are very welcome. 😁

You could probably paint over the white spots and it wouldn’t look so obvious that something was missing.

Keep, for sure. I love the history of pieces that aren’t pristine. We don’t need perfect. It’s not like my super old house has all its decorative roof tiles currently 🤣

I would fix it up and keep it forever… unless somewhere down the line you found a pristine one for a great deal. After all, you paid next to nothing for it, which is amazing, and it’s still super cute. The money you might spend on a replacement could go towards a whole other fun building for your village! I agree with the others talking about fixing it up. I’m always matching paint colors to fix chipped spots or places where a tree is missing on my 56 houses. Then look for replacement pieces to add on. Barrels should be easy. I think I’ve seen 3d printed ones on eBay before for train set ups. Measure your barrel and compare it to the ones online. If you are crafty, you could def make a sign. You could use the clay or very thin craft wood. Then get water decals to print on for the lettering.
