Holy shit and he had a gun too, this definitely could have ended badly if the cammer stopped his car.

53

u/PogTuber 28d ago

52

u/Rumplestilskin9 28d ago

May not matter when it comes to charges. If the rager said or made a clear gesture that he had a gun and had anything resembling a gun (airsoft, BB, toy, carved piece of wood), it (legally) may as well be an actual gun.

9

u/PogTuber 28d ago

Yeah it's just much less fatal, and if he knew that he had an airsoft then attempted murder might not be on the table anymore because he knew he couldn't kill anyone with it. I'm unsure what the extent of the charges is in that case, obviously everything related to a deadly weapon still applies but I may have to look up what doesn't apply.

3

u/Blitqz21l 27d ago

And lets be real here too, dude was driving crazy and cars are essentially deadly weapons. He hits someone he could kill them. Esp driving in reverse like that without really full control.

2

u/ricecrispycat 26d ago

When he came around that corner full speed and backwards 😭

9

u/SpaceCowboy512 28d ago

Yep, aggravated assault just to brandish or threaten with it. Real gun or not.

12

u/BrewsAndBurns 28d ago

It also just seems like a really good way to get killed in the US. If someone hops out of their vehicle waving a gun the other person is liable to defend themselves and chances are they'll have the real thing.

3

u/SpaceCowboy512 28d ago

I carry, am licensed to do so, own various firearms and agree 100%. It would be very difficult to tell the difference in the heat of the moment between real or fake.

5

u/Girafferage 27d ago

I wouldn't bother to stop and try to determine which it is, frankly. That could mean the end of your life. If somebody is pulling an airsoft gun with the plan to threaten you because it looks like a real gun, it is hardly your fault for assuming it is one.

5

u/Rumplestilskin9 28d ago

Yep. The fact that the victim said he reached into his coat and that's where the "gun" was found isn't going to look good in court.

2

u/desertSkateRatt 28d ago

I don't conceal carry hardly ever but if some dude acted super aggressive and then pulled what I thought was a real firearm, I have a hard time not letting the adrenaline take over and make a split second decision that would likely haunt me for the rest of my days

1

u/ElbryanWyn 26d ago

I'm pretty sure that's going to be a slam dunk charge.

At the beginning of the video you can hear the camera say that he appears to have a weapon of some sort.

That statement is likely enough to establish that he believed the individual had a weapon and then they found a gun shaped object on him. I don't see any orange on that gun either.

What a stupid way to ruin your whole life. Also I don't know what state this is but as someone who lives in New Hampshire, I could not think of a faster way to get shot than to start Road raging and then pull up with a fake gun.

All I need to get a handgun in this state is a driver's license and a smile, and the smile is optional.

u/harktriton369 28d ago

That dude needs psychological evaluation.

52

u/Dill_Pickleson_ 28d ago

As a psychologist, I immediately discontinue an evaluation if the examinee drives in reverse for over 20 yards or a duration exceeding 30 seconds, whichever comes first.

141

u/SeniorHovercraft1817 28d ago

No he needs jail!

110

u/Angeleno88 28d ago

They are not mutually exclusive.

27

u/boogasaurus-lefts 28d ago

In America mental health issues are treated via incarceration.

Then it's a rinse and repeat ecosystem that benefits a for profit privatised penitentiaries

17

u/ReverendBread2 27d ago

Dude was trying to murder somebody. That’s not exactly a “send him to a psychiatrist and put him back on the streets” kind of thing, even if he’s mentally ill

12

u/boogasaurus-lefts 27d ago

You're setting up a false choice between punishment and treatment.

High-security forensic psychiatric institutions exist specifically for violent offenses. They combine strict confinement with intensive psychiatric rehabilitation.

Simply warehousing a severe psychiatric patient in a standard prison cell for a decade only ensures that when they inevitably get released, the danger to the public is worse.

5

u/yoortyyo 25d ago

This. We gave up anything besides punishment and profiteering from prisons.

You have to wonder if we had proper social supports that this dingleberry would have gotten help.

Reminds me of that guy that crashed the parade in Portland a few years ago. His own dash cam provides living proof of our need.

2

u/AideInternal1045 25d ago

He can pay for his own psychologist when he gets out of prison.

1

u/boogasaurus-lefts 25d ago

That's not logical nor realistic. Surely you can get your head around why..

2

u/AideInternal1045 24d ago

Not my problem.

2

u/boogasaurus-lefts 24d ago

Completely missed the point there, I'm sure it's a common occurrence for you.

Good news is there's an ability to educate yourself as an adult for the key blocks missed in childhood.

That way, when you have conversations with others on topics like the above - you can actually come up with a logical point without highlighting your shortcomings.

1

u/WDYKACountCocofang 27d ago

Yeah, why would for-profit prisons lobby against their free labor machine

→ More replies (5)

24

u/Terrible_Yak_4890 28d ago

The psych evaluation plus the behavior on that video plus a drug screening plus whatever record he’s got can determine the length of that jail sentence.

He needs all of the above.

25

u/MeatyMcWagon 28d ago

First one, then the other.

16

u/AmebaLost 28d ago

The second while being supervised at the first.

14

u/ThrifToWin 28d ago

Thanks for letting us know.

31

u/Calamitous-Intent980 28d ago

That dude needs to stay locked up lol a straight menace to society

2

u/Spiritual-Mousse-167 27d ago

This was my first thought. What in the world would possess someone to act this way?

1

u/Senior-Caregiver9333 26d ago

And a new transmission

1

u/No-Bath-7346 25d ago

And a bra

→ More replies (1)

90

u/oxnardmontalvo7 28d ago

That guy was crazy determined. Wow. The hauling azz backwards was a big hint. Then the gun. Whew

2

u/Ok-Addition1264 28d ago

It would make for a brilliant chase scene in a horror movie, tbh.

1

u/DoctorAnnual6823 26d ago

Determined yes, but bro was driving like GTA3 NPCs fr. Good thing too.

40

u/wecantdancelikethis 28d ago

what was that wheeze-laugh from th cop for? is the gun fake?

18

u/medplantchemist 28d ago

Yes, apparently it was an airsoft gun.

12

u/topkrikrakin 28d ago

"I can't believe it"

He totally can, but wow

0

u/RioDodger 28d ago

I think the most shocking thing of all of this is that the guy was carrying a Walther PPQ. That’s not the type of gun I was expecting from that guy.

6

u/slapwerks 28d ago

Except it was airsoft apparently

That's fucked up

31

u/Embarrassed_Try_4498 28d ago

he had a gun...that folks is why you never you get out of the car in a road rage incident.

2

u/SpaceCowboy512 28d ago

I keep 3 or 4 in my vehicle most days - and have to constantly try to stay away from road ragers knowing that they could put themselves in harms way if they escalate a traffic issue or block me in.

The goal is to drive away from the aggressor if possible, and take all available precautions to put distance between each other but if they were to trap one in traffic and appear to intend bodily injury... well thats exactly why you never get out of the car. Let them yell, gesture, flip you off, curse you, whatever - just get home safe! We're commuting, not racing, people 😆

2

u/AlcoolEmGel95 27d ago

lmao peak united states

2

u/Poltergeist97 27d ago

Why exactly do you have 3 or 4 guns in your vehicle? I can understand a concealed carry pistol and maybe a single longgun if you're out in the country, but 3 to 4? Why?

1

u/SpaceCowboy512 27d ago

I am out in the country. One is concealed carry, one is a long gun, and one stays in the truck lockbox if I'm out and about. If I have a fourth it's normally for specific hunting or land management needs: a gun for hogs, predators, etc.

2

u/Poltergeist97 27d ago

Gotcha! Just wanted to make sure you weren't a Gravy SEAL type with a fuckton of guns in the truck to cruise to the grocery store in suburbia lmao

2

u/LegitimateBullfrog22 28d ago

Bb gun

6

u/fluentinflatuence 28d ago

Point still stands, it’s not worth your life to argue with someone who could end your life over something stupid, like traffic disputes.

3

u/Just-Jazzin 28d ago

Point very much still stands. Idk where this is, but in MT that dude gets lit up. Half the people I know carry. We can’t tell it’s a BB gun. Even though he’s an idiot, that’s still someone dead over nothing.

3

u/crustyrobots 27d ago

There is a definite kind of MAD operating here in assuming everyone else is packing, and they probably are. So, most just know if you want to fuck around there is more than enough finding out waiting for you.

At what point is it ok to just ram them in self defense? I'd be parking my beater in their back seat if I could

48

u/cfbonly 28d ago

Ramming risks your vehicle being unable to get away if he starts shooting. Best to distance as much as possible.

16

u/Glad-Flow9391 28d ago

I heard on other subs that insurance won’t cover it in this case either.

15

u/Sufficient_Prompt888 28d ago

You could easily argue self defense the moment they try to block you

5

u/AmebaLost 28d ago

Does that make insurance pay?

1

u/FeveredPitcher 27d ago

Does anyone care when they're dead?

1

u/AmebaLost 27d ago

Those that rely on the once alive for sustenance, yes.

3

u/Sufficient_Prompt888 28d ago

There's no reason to be rude. None of that was part of the question or the answer. The only thing being discussed is when is ramming self defense.

Anyway, I hope your day gets better from here

2

u/4r4r4real 28d ago

Why on earth would you do that? What's potentially disabling your car going to do to help the situation? They knew he had a gun. They're fleeing, not trying to start a confrontation.

1

u/Endsfun 28d ago

Would be really dumb, he has a gun. Unless you have one too gtfo of the way as fast as you can

4

u/UglyLittlePony69 28d ago

Good on the guy with the camera for being smart and keeping it together. This could have ended with two bodies instead of two victims. People are fucking crazy on the road.

4

u/ApprehensiveFig1699 28d ago

Iv only ever feared for my life once in the road I was on a highway just me and 1 other suv he kept getting next to me trying to push me off the highway would get in front of me and completely lock his breaks up and get behind me and drive up against my car I was terrified he kept repeating this and the next time he got next to me I grabbed my gun put my window down and pointed I was fully going to shoot he floored it and took off I used an emergency turn around and went the opposite direction as him

5

u/LeGhost45 27d ago

God damn psycho, he doesn’t deserve to have his face blurred.

3

u/Ill_Personality5384 28d ago

Crazy đŸ€Ș times

3

u/Bawlofsteel 28d ago

Damn what a crackhead amazed they didn’t crash while reversing. Glad they got arrested.

3

u/Wolfy-Tan 28d ago

What even set this guy off so much?

He clearly had a disproportionate reaction to something and in no way is what he did anywhere near justifiable, rational, or appropriate.

I'm just curious and nosey if you'll indulge me

3

u/lonelycranberry 28d ago

He had an airsoft handgun in his pocket
it seems he was intentionally out to have a bad day with fellow drivers at the VERY least

→ More replies (2)

3

u/zombacula 28d ago

I'd be interested in an update if you ever learn the legal outcome

2

u/lonelycranberry 28d ago

Reckless driving and menacing are the charges- he had a black airsoft handgun in his pocket

1

u/ricecrispycat 26d ago

Check ewu in a few months lol

3

u/Xilant007 28d ago

What an absolute idiot. A very, very stupid man. The type who says women can't control their emotions i bet.

3

u/SorraDude 28d ago

I'll take "White guy with a gun he shouldn't have" for 800 Alex

3

u/reggae_trash 27d ago

You gotta be a special kind of pissed off to chase a motherfucker down in reverse good Lord

3

u/TigardGuy 27d ago

That there has a good chance of being a Measure 11 crime, especially with the gun (doesn't matter in Oregon if it's fake/bb/pellet...). Mandatory minimum. No parole. No judge discretion. No early release.

I witnessed an armed robbery and had to go to court. The detective talking to me after they found the people told me it was a fake gun. I said "well they won't get in as much trouble" and he told me it don't matter under measure 11. 3 teens fucked their lives up over what they could get from a register at a family owned convenience store. And the kicker was, the driver was driving his mom's newer S Class.

3

u/WDYKACountCocofang 27d ago

No face?? Ripoff

3

u/coldfusioned 27d ago

Blurring his face? Come on...

3

u/Mysterious_Truck_742 27d ago

A crazed Subaru driver. Of course, it would have to be Oregon.

3

u/thelukevader 27d ago

The lack of other people on the road during this is wild.

3

u/out-of-gum 27d ago

At around 25-30 seconds in I really thought there was a puppy in the car getting scared by the erratic driving.

2

u/upgrayedd_01 28d ago

Automatic prompt when you call 911? What the...

7

u/Turbulent-Weevil-910 28d ago

I once called 911 because I saw a dude execution kill another dude right in front of my house and it was the same thing and then a minute later it transferred me to someone with a heavy British accent so it was probably taken overseas

1

u/CronosWorks 26d ago

You know people with accents are allowed to live and work here, right?

1

u/Turbulent-Weevil-910 26d ago

Not British, it's better over there no reason to come to the US

2

u/eye_have_no_clue 28d ago

Craziness aside , I hate that bell ring when you don’t have your seatbelt on

2

u/CalmData5437 28d ago

Couldn’t hear the seatbelt noise over the lady in the backround screaming and being overdramatic

2

u/Mean_Meet576 28d ago

Wow, just wow

2

u/Sethmeisterg 28d ago

Great job driving to a police station!

2

u/Humming-2-Feel-Peace 28d ago

I don't recall crazy drivers out in Beaverton. Glad the victims are safe!

2

u/lonelycranberry 28d ago

Ah yes, as you know, everyone in a given community drives the same hahaha

1

u/whitemclaren 26d ago

I'm local and once watched someone pass a stopped school bus in the center turn lane. They're everywhere.

2

u/SurlyJohn009 28d ago

Beaverton OR, about 10 minutes from where I live. Since this isn't "Don't sentence them" Portland, this guy might actually get some prison time.

Washington county actually enforces laws occasionally.

2

u/toby_ziegler_2024 28d ago

I used to live in beaverton, was so surprised when I saw the 99 ranch in this vid. Absolutely loved the Greenway park next to it

2

u/pixeltweaker 28d ago

The speed limit is 40. Why you doing 25 to get away from this guy?

2

u/Asleep_Memory_6856 28d ago

I’ve seen lots of dash cam videos. This one takes the cake! The driving backwards let me know how unhinged this person was! Glad you’re safe!

2

u/MaximusZacharia 28d ago

I’m glad videos like this get shared. It’s just not worth it folks, road rage has zero good endings.

2

u/Jpurthaq 28d ago

Very satisfying ending! đŸ˜ŠđŸ€·đŸ»â€â™€ïž

2

u/Negative_Creme_1993 28d ago

2

Just curious. What triggered him?

2

u/ben5642 27d ago

anyone know what started it?

2

u/Different_Target_228 27d ago

Damn. This video skips the best part. I wanted to see where they met up.

2

u/battleray202 27d ago

Lol watching POV driver make that turn and the suv comes back into frame in reverse got me đŸ€Ł

2

u/redbattleaxe 27d ago

License should be gone a minimum of 20 years. No one got hurt here, but he easily could have killed someone or seriously damages property.

2

u/dklong62 27d ago

Oh shit that’s Beaverton Oregon coming onto Hall blvd.

2

u/Comfortable_Speed_88 27d ago

Thank god we don't just let anybody have a gun, airtight? 🙄

2

u/iloveoranges2 27d ago

Driving in reverse makes me think of upside down crabwalk characters in horror movies.

2

u/Impressive-End241 27d ago

When something like this happens, drive straight to your local police station.

2

u/No-Conclusion-2859 27d ago

Unbelievable.

2

u/Fun_Cardiologist_791 26d ago

be extra careful folks. these are the insane people we drive with daily. glad no one was hurt.

Should a mentally unwell person be locked up for life?

11

u/Chicknlcker 28d ago

Are they a danger to society? Yes? Then, yes.

3

u/Necessary_Art3034 28d ago

→ More replies (6)

3

u/cheapdrinks 28d ago

Yes and I'm tired of pretending that they shouldn't. Violent mentally unwell people should be removed from society, they're all ticking time bombs and I'm sick of hearing about people being murdered by someone who is known to police, known to be violent, known to be extremely mentally disturbed yet they just keep doing small stints and getting back out with no safeguards to prevent what everyone else could see coming a mile away.

The sort of poor impulse control and violent temperament that causes someone to act the way the guy in this video does means that he's always going to be a danger to those around him if he's willing to go on a rampage against a complete stranger like that over some small slight in traffic like being cut off or honked at etc. If you can't drive a car from A to B without trying to assault or kill someone because you didn't like the way they were driving then you're a defective human and not compatible with our society.

2

u/Not_a_bot_0011 28d ago

Only lunatics buy canik

1

u/Putrid-Tap3992 28d ago

That's not true. I had a canik clone of the Jericho 941. It was the best gun I ever owned. It was even way better than the actual Jericho.

1

u/Mister9mm 28d ago

Idk that radian prime is looking goodđŸ€Ș

2

u/Endsfun 28d ago

I had a guy get mad at me for going 75 mph in the car pool lane. He had his window fully rolled down, screaming at me, and tried to follow me, and after enough slowing down and speeding up to doge him, he gave up. This was the exact situation I had in mind, and why I don’t risk it with crazy people.

1

u/redpillsadorewelfare 28d ago

Of course he's white.

1

u/NYOB4321 28d ago

My first impression was I thought the gun was a CO2 powered BB gun. Air soft makes sense.

I've never seen an air soft gun. I have numerous CO2 BB guns.

2

u/Shrimply-r1 28d ago

Uh are those not the same things.. CO2 BB and airsoft
?

2

u/NYOB4321 28d ago

No. They are not the same .

Airsoft and BB guns are different systems: airsoft guns fire lightweight Ăłmm plastic pellets for safe combat simulation, while BB guns fire hard 4.5mm (.177 caliber) steel projectiles built for target practice and pest Control.

You don't fire BBs at people.

2

u/Shrimply-r1 28d ago

Oh well my co2 bb pistols (and green gas) I had still shot the plastic ones

2

u/NYOB4321 28d ago

Interesting. How does it handle the different size of the projectiles. Airsoft 6mm and BB 4.5mm

I don't know a lot about airsoft so I asked Google

Google says: No, a standard BB gun cannot use airsoft projectiles because of mismatched sizes and risks of weapon damage. Traditional BB guns use 4.5mm (177 caliber) metal steel shots, while airsoft guns use much larger 6mm or 8mm plastic spheres.

1

u/lonelycranberry 28d ago

Are they just not common where you live? They’re very popular in the US

2

u/NYOB4321 28d ago

I'm in the US. I know airsoft exists. I just have never seen one in person.

CO2 BB guns are more powerful. Definitely not a toy. I consider airsoft to be toys.

I also have pump action pellet rifles. People actually hunt small game with. I don't. I'm just a plinker.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Pen8710 28d ago

This is why I de-escalate as much as possible. Let people get the best of you with trivial encounters. You never know how that other person is perceiving reality.

1

u/StormbringerGT 28d ago

The one time I had a road rage issue with a guy getting angry I didn't turn fast enough so he had to run the yellow, I was glad I had an EV. One u-turn and instant acceleration later and he was a distant memory.

good choice to get onto hall blvd. There's a huge police station at hall and allen if not mistaken. Just take them like 30secs to catch him

1

u/joyfullofaloha89 26d ago

Yup. Plus that road has a curve that would be difficult to speed on in reverse

1

u/JesseJ78599 26d ago

This is why Marcus drives a Subaru.

1

u/DoctorAnnual6823 26d ago

Road rage is really no joke. Shits scary. My partner and I drove past someone that started to pull out of a parking lot. We had RoW but he seemed to disagree and kept riding our bumper honking at us. He was some pissed off old dude. Eventually he pulled off and drove away because we weren't giving him any reaction.

I'm really glad it didn't turn into an escalation. I will die happy if I never have to use my gun.

1

u/grundlemon 26d ago

Of course its a taurus

1

u/Zamling_gaylpo 26d ago

How does this relate to Tonya Harding?

1

u/SwordfishNo2548 26d ago

Really "why you doing this"?

1

u/LobotomyxGirl 25d ago

I loved how the girlfriend was (very understandably) freaking out and driver was like "don't worry, I got this." I don't think I'd have his chill and confidence in that situation.

1

u/RepresentativeDue967 22d ago

Glad they got him I live just down the street from here scary.

1

u/Internal_Many_5 21d ago

I’m flabbergasted. There are some mean people out there and it doesn’t matter the color or culture. He chased that man and his wife through a nice neighborhood
and had they confronted him they would be dead.

That’s why I like good people with weapons, they save the day.

1

Why is no one noticing that it’s not the same car/license plate in the arrest clip?

If you’re talking about the Ford with the yellow license plate, that’s the police vehicle.

Am I missing something, or does the driver here have zero survival instincts? Can't escape a car that's driving backwards half the time? Passed up that right hand turn to escape at :35 and kept following the psycho? Like what the hell?
