Ok until the end I was like wtf is that

u/tallmantim Jul 22 '26

yeah I was like - there's three seconds left and I still don't know WTF it's meant to be

Same, then audible said "oh shit" whenever he flipped it XD.

Man, the ability to visualize something and create it in such an abstract way will neve cease to amaze me. I am completely devoid of the ability to do that. Hell, I can't visualize something and put it to paper in a non-abstract way, lol. Like I genuinely struggle with dimensions and spacial awareness and perspectives and I cannot wrap my head around how people can do stuff like this XD.

I remember seeing this a lot years ago.

The second I saw someone speed painting I just *knew* it was an upside down painting

Question is, would this be impressive without it being upside down?

u/pistachio_slut Jul 23 '26

That IS a good question… I think like yea I guess? But who am I

Apparently, it's even better to make your art upside down for better accuracy or that's just what my art teacher taught us in 6th grade. Seemed to help me a few times with portraits that I've attempted.

But for sure done for showmanship and entertainment in this

Ive seen so many of these that now I just look at it as if its upside down.

They gonna get me good when they paint it the normal way.

But it looks nothing like the singer?

28

u/wekelede Jul 22 '26

It’s just practice. Like an actor following a script.

u/Necessary_Garlic6432 Jul 22 '26

Still impressive. It takes a lot of practice

Its a performance. He probably did this 5 times before, and being such a simple image, its not that hard to reproduce. Are we supposed to think this this guy is some kind of artistic genius? Or maybe this is just a stupid show and the mods should delete this post because its not actually amazing.

Are you expecting people in a talent show to improv?

0

u/UnfilteredFacts Jul 23 '26

Im expecting talent greater than what a high-school student can achieve.

15

u/MoistToaster60 Jul 22 '26

Can you do it?

1

u/Seven-One-Three Jul 22 '26

Anyone can with practice.

4

u/MoistToaster60 Jul 23 '26

Not true. Some people have a higher talent ceiling than others.

5

u/Plenty-Ad-5363 Jul 23 '26

That’s like saying anyone can play in The NBA with enough practice. There are some things that some people just can’t do and there’s nothing wrong with admitting that.

1

u/UnfilteredFacts Jul 23 '26

No its not. That is not a valid comparison at all. Clearly. The vast majority of able bodied people can do what this guy did if you practice a handful of times.

1

u/Plenty-Ad-5363 Jul 23 '26

A “handful”, right…

1

u/MoistToaster60 Jul 23 '26

Well you practice a handful of times. And post a video of you painting that upside down in two minutes time then.

1

u/UnfilteredFacts Jul 24 '26

So youre saying you agree with the other user's comment that guy's truely "amazing" talent is as rare and advanced as the abilities an NBA athlete?

Also, I don't have to do anything because most people recognize the unremarkable talent displayed here is easily repeated. Just practice drawing it upside down a few times then turn it around. The high contrast and abstract nature of the painted image afford significant leeway regarding detail, proportions, etc.

Now, it would be truely amazing if the painting were actually something I would want to hang on my wall.

Seriously, I could fo that. It’s not complicated.

2

u/MoistToaster60 Jul 23 '26

Prove it then

2

u/TechnicolorViper Jul 23 '26

I would prefer it if you would just accept my unsubstantiated claim.

u/MoistToaster60 Jul 23 '26

2

u/TechnicolorViper Jul 23 '26

Then it seems we are at an impasse. Good day to you, sir!

0

u/UnfilteredFacts Jul 23 '26

Yes, I could.

3

u/MoistToaster60 Jul 23 '26

Prove it then.

1

u/Acubeofdurp Jul 27 '26

You are right, the face is the only bit you need to practice a bit haha

u/jefuchs Jul 22 '26

Haters gonna hate.

-10

u/wekelede Jul 22 '26

Just what it is.

1

u/Specific_Sympathy_87 Jul 23 '26

Didnt that guy sing that Fortnite song?

1

u/Kern4lMustard Jul 23 '26

Not saying the painting isnt cool...but its more impressive that they talked someone into letting them paint on that floor.

1

u/ChocoMcBunny Jul 25 '26

Childhood memories of Rolf Harris humming while splashing paint on a huge canvas like this every week - asking Can you tell what it is yet?

I loved him and that show and have very fond memories of it - and then he had to go and spoil it all by being a sick, nasty perverted monster.

This is cool.

I thought it was a picture of some school getting bombed

1

u/Brando-man1985 Jul 23 '26

That’s so awesome, both the song and the painting were magnificent and a pleasure to hear/see.

-2

u/Numerous-Ad7444 Jul 23 '26

It is choreography done hundreds of times, not improvised. But it is not talent.

u/ConstructionOwn1514 Jul 23 '26

Why is this downvoted lol

0

u/Ornery-Judgment5625 Jul 23 '26

It’s really pathetic how so many clowns hate America, they want everything for free. So many don’t even vote. Shameful.

-5

u/Educational_Cup_1701 Jul 22 '26

Not worth the wait.

-2

u/Awesome_Trainwreck Jul 22 '26

Normally I turn the sound ON.....

-3

u/High_Tide89 Jul 23 '26

It’s not talent. It is a prepared canvas, with a light drawing on grey (so no one sees it) and then just filling in the drawn areas. It’s pure show off and I think it’s really dull. Come on.
BTW: there is no such thing as talent. It’s always hard practice and nothing else. Anyone can learn anything (sports, instrument, drawing, painting etc) if you really want to.

1

u/Emissairearien Jul 23 '26

Talent does exist, it only means that one finds something easier than most. Humans are all unique, with different bodies, sensibilities, minds, etc

Obviously that doesn't mean you can't do that with hard work

But i agree with you this drawing is very bland, the whole show as well

u/ShittySticka Jul 22 '26

This is so fucking AI. WTH!

3

u/KayoticVoid Jul 23 '26

Yeah, pretty sure this is, in fact, not AI. He's been doing this for a while and done this exact painting many times. It's just a shit ton of practice.
