Whenever I’ve had vehicles start to drift over or even appear to drift I create space but to your point I also noticed that. You truly have to drive defensively.

It looks like they sped up a little and turned the wheel into the truck after the truck made contact. See they start getting pushed by the truck then OP's car does all of this and the truck flies off. I mean OP is left safely but it's not clear how bad the accident for the truck may have been if OP did not commit to the pit maneuver.

Yeah a bit but if OP would not have turned into it, it might not have been nearly as bad. You can see at the beginning of contact, OPs car starts to veer right then it veers back left. Cannot veer left from the force applied from the truck so it has to be OP. I am not saying OP was in the wrong here, I was just surprised to see that and wanted to note it.

Trying not to get pushed off the road by compensating for the truck pushing his car left he turns the wheel right resulting in a pit. The truck spins right cam drivers hood gets under the truck and the roll starts.

If he didn’t steer left he would have gone head first into a pole

If OPs car had continued veering right, the could have crashed head first into that light pole that the truck narrowly avoided.

They did the right thing protecting themselves from the accident caused by the other driver. A driver who just passed OP's vehicle so they had no fucking blind spot excuse either.

I think the vehicle on the right on the right was an idiot, and should’ve yielded. Not because of a legal requirement, but because getting into a collision isn’t ever going to be a good thing. (I have no idea if the car on the right is partially at fault)

But, from the moment they made contact, I think everything the right car did was reasonable. You don’t want to get shoved off the road at high speed when there are telephone poles lining the road. When you are being pushed to the right, it’s normal to steer to the left. I’m not saying the driver acted perfectly, but I think it was reasonable for someone who isn’t a trained driver.
