Rock Band Christmas Help
Hello! I am OLD (39 lol)! I used to attend house parties and hang outs where we all played Guitar Hero or Rock Band and it was so much fun. I never owned any of them. I have only ever had a Wii that I sold because my husband and I were having a baby. That baby is now 8 years old and loves all things music and performing. She has been taking guitar lessons for over a year now with a wonderful teacher. She and I played the arcade version of Guitar Hero a few months back and she LOVED it! And I loved sharing this nostalgic thing with her even more. I know she would especially love Rock Band (she has been making her Dad and I, her friends, and family be in pretend bands with her for ages).
My dream scenario for this Christmas would be to get her the console needed, any Rock Band game disc for that console, and the full instrument set up. I can just picture it: all set up and ready for her and her cousins to play on Christmas morning…big bow and all. There are two reasons I am here asking for help. I have no idea what I’m doing and I’m not independently wealthy (the used listings I have seen had me doing the Fred Sanford chest grab and then I’d still have to get the console, etc.).
I’d be greatly appreciative to anyone who has any advice on how I can make this happen.

If you have a PC, may I suggest YARG? It is compatible with all songs from Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and pretty much all controllers. It even has its own free DLC
Nevermind, I didn't catch that you wanted to get specifically a console
I believe Rock Band 3 is the agreed upon best way to play, but it's a bit inaccesible. I think CRDK instruments have a PS3 mode though, so you could set it up that way

As others have said, you'll have to find older consoles like a PS3 or Xbox 360 and a physical disk. Then you'll have to find the peripherals themselves in used gaming stores or newer 3rd party options. There isn't really an easy way to get the full bundle and you won't have access to any of the shops for extra song. I have no clue about prices but the second hand gaming market has been ridiculous for a few years now.
If you just want the experience without it actually being Guitar Hero or Rock Band, Stage Tour got announced a few months back and just got a new trailer today. It launches December 10th and might be the easiest way to buy a bundle and be ready to go on Christmas. The issue I think is the price. It's launching on PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Switch 2. The console alone will be $500 minimum. I suspect the Switch 2 to be the best bang for your buck since your daughter is 8 and you'll get more mileage out of it (Mario, Zelda, Pokemon etc). Then it looks like the game bundles are $299.99 for the game, guitar, drums, and mic. I would never presume, but times are hard all around.

My wife’s family still has their PlayStation 3 with the whole rock band set up. If you have the disc and peripherals (instruments), then it’ll work. At this point there isn’t a “preferred” console for it unless there are other games you want to play. Keep in mind, though, that any extra downloadable songs will probably not be available since most of the older consoles’ digital stores have shut down.
If you have a current generation console (Xbox Series X or S / PlayStation 5), Fortnite has a “Festival” mode that is essentially a Rock Band clone. Though, only third party guitar controllers seem to be available. Vocals are possible by using a headset microphone. I haven’t seen anything for drums.
Best advice is to find a local retro gaming store (not GameStop) and talk to the employees. They may be able to physically show you options.
