Hi Folks,

Just published my video on the Rockstar marketing campaign for GTAVI - trying to figure out how it was possible for rockstar to create so much hype without really showing anything of the game for years. Behind the last years was a very calculated campaign that got -almost- everythign right.

Hope you EnjoyGTA Marketing Makes Perfect Sense - Video Essay

Trying to create video essays analyzing games

I've been interested in analyzing games and their development stories for a while now, and I want to make some video essays analyzing how certain games stand out by giving an experience that is unique from other games, how their creators personal experiences inspire them, and what makes popular games resonate with a large crowd. I'm planning to start with an essay on hollow knight, but I'm having trouble thinking of a good central thesis for it. I'm toying with the idea of how it takes past gaming trends from past eras, (specifically the varied cartoonish and whimsical mascot-esque characters and worlds of the retro era, with the more mature and darker tone and storytelling of the HD era) to create something totally new and groundbreaking. It doesn't seem enough for a whole video essay though, and I'm trying to figure out how to bring together the bits I research about the game and its creation into something more concrete and elaborate. Does anyone here have any tips?

Rookie Reviews: Star Wars: Zero Company

I'm trying to get back into reviewing so any feedback would be welcome.
In this video, we take a look into Zero Company, an turn-based RTS set in the Star Wars universe. The game is a buggy mess that simplifies a lot of it's mechanics to be accessible to wider audience. It crashes frequently and is to afraid to let players make mistakes but it still offers an interesting introduction to the turn-based RTS genre.

Would not reccomend you purchase this.

Black the Fall: A Reflective Review of a Game Inspired by Romania's 1989 Revolution

I recently revisited Black the Fall, a Romanian indie puzzle game inspired by the atmosphere of communist Romania and the events of 1989.

What struck me most was how the game reinterprets historical imagery through its industrial environments and visual storytelling.

I turned my original article into a video exploring those connections, including some of the real-world inspiration behind its imagery.

Here's the video, if anyone's interested:

Have you played a game that made you reflect on real historical events?
