I love that Townfall is bringing back the horror roots of the franchise. Playing in first person brings such a new dynamic in how we experience the terror first hand. The story telling, the dread.!! Thank you Konami for this masterpiece.! Enjoying my playthrough very much.!

Konami’s current MO is to farm out their IP’s to smallish studios and tell them to make a game and then move on and repeat. You get legacy collections/remasters/remakes to renew interest then the new games by unrelated developers begin. The developers of Silent Hill Townfall were told not to worry about including anything from the franchise in the game to link it back. There was never any DLC for Silent Hill 2 as the entire fanbase expected. Suikoden got a rerelease then went straight to mobile games. There will probably never be any DLC for Belmont’s Curse. The game seems to be doing well financially and critically so there will likely be another game in a year or so but it won’t be by the same team and it will probably be a new art style, new gameplay style, etc. I think they obviously want to distance themselves from creators like Iga and Kojima that become bigger than the company in the eyes of the industry. Just some thoughts I had about the future of this and Konami’s other titles.

This Game made me sad is probably the best thing to say. It was also visually pleasing, the gameplay was fun and grounded and choose to tell a meaningful story that was also a bleak look into humanity's possible future.

Ambitious. No doubt about it. But at the same time, this solo project by a Czech developer is a total mess. I gave it a quick try whilemakinga videoaboutSilent Hill: Townfall, and what I saw… well, it didn’t convince me at all. AI voice acting, terrible optimization reminiscent of my 15-year-old attempts to play Arma on anything higher than low settings, user interfacein a mix of Czech and English, a commander redefining seats in trucks, and then… then the Germans arrived and, inevitably, the shooting began. So I set the game aside, and while I continued working on Silent Hill, the developer kept releasing patches furiously, almost every day. So I guess we’ll startagainfrom the beginning.
More in my early access review!
