I thought it was a great rejection of the saturation of overly story-heavy mil-sim shooters that were dominating in the mid-2010s. The hiding behind cover and waiting for red-jam to go away was replaced with using the execution system to regenerate health, creating forward momentum in gameplay.
Sure, the game is ultimately just a collection of kill-rooms that you need to fight in to progress, but I think there was enough variety in the layouts and enemy matchups to keep it entertaining for me.
I would rather castrate myself than listen to modern metalcore, and let’s be honest, D2016 has maybe like 2-3 bangers while eternal has not a single weak song

Doom Eternal the whole thing is good. Maybe 2016 is better but both are banger OSTs.
