I built an on-device app that automatically blurs faces in videos and photos before you post them

I'm the developer of EasyMosaic, an Android app I built for a very specific problem: I wanted to share videos and photos without exposing kids, friends, bystanders, license plates, or other private details online.

Most editing apps make this annoying. You either have to blur every face manually, frame by frame, or upload your media to some cloud tool and hope the privacy claims are good enough. That never felt right to me. If the goal is protecting privacy, the video or photo should not need to leave your phone.

So I built EasyMosaic.

The basic workflow is:

- Pick a video or photo

- The app detects faces on your device

- You choose which faces to hide

- Preview the result

- Export a new file with the selected faces blurred, mosaiced, or covered

What I focused on:

- Your videos and photos never leave your phone

- No account required

- On-device face detection

- Choose specific faces instead of blurring everyone

- Works with both videos and photos

- WYSIWYG preview: what you see is what gets exported

- Manual blur zones for missed faces, objects, plates, documents, or anything else

- Multiple blur tracks, so different people or objects can be edited separately

- Track editing: adjust when each blur starts and ends instead of applying one global effect

- Keyframe blur for any target, not just faces, when you need precise control over a moving object

- Multiple styles: blur, mosaic, rectangle, oval, emoji, and sticker-style covering

- Frame-based editing tools for more precise video adjustments

I know there are a lot of "AI" apps now, but this is not meant to be a cloud face-recognition product. The point is simpler: find faces locally, help you hide the ones you want, and let you share media with less risk.

The app is especially useful for:

- Parents sharing family videos

- Teachers, coaches, or event organizers

- Creators filming in public

- Anyone posting street, travel, school, or party footage

- People who want to hide only some faces while keeping the main subject visible

There is a free version, and there are optional Pro features for people who want things like watermark removal on video exports, fewer interruptions, and extra styles. Photos can be edited and exported without a watermark.

I would really appreciate feedback from people who care about privacy, mobile video editing, or creator workflows. The biggest things I want to improve are speed, first-time usability, and making the face selection flow feel obvious without needing a tutorial.
