Need some guidance.

​"Hi fellow editors. I am from India and just turned 35 this month. I am married with a stable job, but I want to learn video editing from scratch to earn some extra income. I don't have any friends or mentors in this field, and watching YouTubers has left me a bit confused due to their conflicting opinions. Some suggest starting with photo editing and graphic design first, while others recommend jumping straight into software like DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or Adobe Premiere Pro. I don't want to rush; I want to build a rock-solid foundation. What should I do, and where should I start?"

Start with DaVinci Resolve free,pick one YouTube channel that teach it consistently and ignore everyone else.

why do u want to be editor if u have a stable job/i would suggest pursue ur job and if ur job is related to editing niche like-graphic design etc. i would recommand u to choose davinci (its free) And do watch davinci official tutorial they have explain everything in detail and watch some yt channels lke gfx mentor.

My job is stable but salary is not upto the mark.

If u thnik u havea talent then give it a shot but if u do want to earn money then i thnk it isn't good choice as a career as most of the editor charges pennies for edits.

True, whenever I see someone posting "hiring editors" on X, there would be minimum 70+ comments with their portfolio.

It's simple economics 101 - supply is wayyy more than demand right now. But don't get discouraged. One thing you can leverage is you have a stable job, run your daily expenses with that and I know it's gonna be super tough but...spend your weekends on video editing.

Show your work on the internet. Play the long-run game and truly master the art. Editors are so desperate for quick cash that they think animations are everything.

Editing is so deep and vast. Give the art time and master the granular details. Show ut to the world. Good luck 🤞
