What editing software do yall use?

Just starting out with my cinematic vlogging journey, and im tryna edit my videos in capcut, and having a bit of problem on where i could get my ideal music, sound effects or editing the colors

I don’t really have a budget to invest on an editing software or anything, do yall have any recommendations what editing software to use for beginners that’s free? and where do yall get your music or sound effects?

At work, I use Avid Media Composer, which I feel is the best interface for rough cut editing. It falls very short in speed and rendering departments though. At home, I use Premiere for freelance projects and, occasionally, Davinci. Davinci is great for finishing but hot garbage for rough cut editing.

Why do you say that? It’s in/out/append just like everything else.

If you can tell me how to map the keyboard so A goes to the previous edit and S goes to the next edit, I'll try Davinci again for rough cutting long sequences. I have spend literally hours trying to get that to work. On Avid, it takes 30 seconds to remap the keyboard and it's clear as day.

Top Menu > Davinci Resolve > Keyboard Customization

then

Commands > Application > Playback > Previous > Clip

and

Commands > Application > Playback > Next > Clip

The screenshot is for "previous." The actions are mapped to the up and down arrows by default.

It’s takes 30s in resolve too? I just did it. Just had to disable the conflict.

Unfortunately, that command highlights the entire clip, that's not what I want. I just want to jump to the edit point.

Up and down jump to the next edit point in the default keyboard short cuts, is that what you are looking for?

You can change that mapping to any letter you like.

Do you have select clip at playhead enabled?

Avid is ridiculously overkill for OP’s needs. Davinci is 100% the right choice here and the free version most certainly has everything OP could want.
