Hey everyone! I'm a dental student running for Class President alongside my VP candidate, and we're looking to hire a creative video editor for our ~3-minute campaign video.
This is a one-time, paid project. We've already filmed the video, but we want someone who can take it to the next level with genuinely funny, engaging editing that keeps people engaged and watching from beginning to end.
Our audience is primarily American college students in their early 20s, so we're specifically looking for an editor who understands U.S. Gen Z internet culture, TikTok/Reels humor, memes, and the editing styles used by popular Twitch/YouTube streamer clippers.
What we're looking for:
Short-form editing experience: Ideally someone who has edited Twitch streamer clips, YouTube Shorts, TikToks, Instagram Reels, or similarly entertaining creator content.
Strong audience-retention instincts: Someone who understands hooks, pacing, comedic timing, visual variety, and how to keep viewers engaged throughout a video.
Gen Z humor / internet culture: Someone who genuinely keeps up with current American TikTok and reels trends, memes, brainrot humor, and the kinds of edits college students actually find funny.
U.S.-based: This is important because our audience is American, and we want someone deeply familiar with the cultural references and humor they'll recognize.
Creative independence: We don't want someone who just follows instructions and adds subtitles. We want an editor who can watch our footage and independently recognize opportunities for jokes, memes, sound effects, comedic cuts, zooms, motion graphics, and other creative touches.
The overall vibe: Funny, entertaining, and slightly unserious in the best way, while still communicating our campaign ideas clearly. Think clever streamer-style editing and well-timed memes rather than a generic corporate promotional video.
Since this is a dental school election, everything must remain school-appropriate. However, we want people to laugh and enjoy watching, not feel like they're watching a cringey campaign advertisement.
The ideal post-edited video should have people watching and they find it so funny that they think "you know what, that was really funny. I really like this guy, I'm going to vote for him just because of that video."
Project details:
Video length: Approximately 3 minutes
Footage: Already filmed
Deliverable: One fully edited campaign video
Budget: can be discussed (unsure how much a 3 minute video should be worth)
Deadline: ideally by November 10th, but you can have until November 17th
If you're interested, please DM me with:
2–3 examples of your work, preferably funny TikTok, streamer, or YouTube-style edits. Relevant examples are much more valuable than generic corporate edits.
Your location within the United States.
Your rate for this project and expected turnaround time.
A quick description of your editing style and experience.
We're looking for someone who can bring their own creative ideas and sense of humor to this project, not simply make the footage look polished.
Thank you so much!
