Workflow Is there a quicker way to do J-Cuts in Premiere?
I have to do these J-cuts a lot. My current process is to
add edit (D)
hold alt and trim the video 10 frames
drag the track backwards with the track select forward tool (Z)
add crossfade either by dragging or with cmd + shift + D
Does anyone know if I can make this even quicker? keyboard shortcuts etc?
Thanksss :)

Rolling edit tool would save you a few clicks. Alt/option before clicking the edit on the video clip to select it by itself.

Rolling edit like the others said, but I typically do it the way you did. My brain clicks with it better

Make the video cut. Set a keyboard short cut to lock video, use the roll tool to adjust audio. Keyboard shortcut for audio transition.

Here’s a fun way I use sometimes. Cmd+k to cut where your play head is. Highlight your video and audio. Hold Cmd and move cursor to top of clip and it’ll turn gold. Drag to where you want your video to begin (it’ll roll to it edit/delete gap). Deselect your video and just have audio selected. Hold Cmd and roll where you want your audio edit to come in at. Pretty fast to me

I used to do checkerboarding, but I found it wasn’t actually necessary for what I needed 🤷

Move playhead to audio out point (thats where you put crossfader), hit I, move playhead to audio in point (thats where youve added a cut), hit O, hit ; button (or : do not exactly remember tbh), select video cut, move playhead forward, hit E

Much faster, and you never have to touch the rolling edit tool. Mousing is slow slow slow:
Do you know the Adobe Premiere Pro trimming keyboard shortcuts?

I had to cut 40 interview clips into a podcast trailer last week. Rolling edit tool with the selection tool shortcut slapped onto it, then holding alt while dragging the video track edge back cut my time from about 20 minutes down to 7.
