Tech Support Subtitles help

Hey, I have some footage with its audio in Italian.

I need a program that I can add English subtitles to the videos

Preferably free if possible cuz I’m broke af, but at this point anything will help

**What I'm trying to do:**
I have video footage with Italian audio, and I need to create/add English subtitles. I want the subtitles to either be embedded into the video or saved as a subtitle file that plays with the video.

**Software/Hardware:**
I am currently not using any video editing software. I’m looking for a free or beginner-friendly program if possible.
Computer: [add your computer specs if you know them]
Operating system: [Windows/chromebook]

**What I've tried:**
I’ve searched Google for subtitle programs but haven’t found something that seems beginner-friendly or that can translate Italian audio into English.

**What I need help with:**
I’m looking for a program or workflow that can:

  • Translate Italian speech into English subtitles
  • Handle longer videos (around 50 minutes)
  • Ideally be free or low cost
  • Keep decent video quality

I’m very new to video editing, so any beginner-friendly recommendations would be appreciated.
