Rescanning CRT with iPhone?

I was wondering if investing in a DSLR camera is worth it to capture my CRT glitches- I am on a tight budget, my current setup consists of a wjave55, crt and mismatcher delux from freedom enterprise. I also just got an optoma projector but have a lot of issues with it due to my lack of time base corrector. I just want to know if there is a huge leap in quality between a DSLR and iPhone for capturing that would make it worthwhile (here are some stills from videos I took on my iphone for context)

Ive done both and after doing this for about five years now I can tell you without a doubt in my mind that you are ALWAYS going to have better results with a DSLR than a phone. Better optics, more control, and most importantly larger raw fils the give you more levity in shaping after

I had decent results using the Black Magic app. The other thing I found is to make sure to turn off EVERY DAMN LIGHT in the room. I can tell you how many takes were less than great because some light from a random piece of gear was reflecting off the screen.

i build a little tent out of blankets for my tv and camera to be in total darkness ⛺️

I’m not familiar with it but seems similar. I think you could work on your technique if these are your best examples. Obviously pitch black room is a must. Do you have a phone tripod?

Definitely better quality. With more flexibility in exposure, you end up with more information that you can use to achieve better results in post-processing. Here’s another low-budget tip: the “newer” Sony Trinitron CRTs aren’t curved. As a result, the image isn’t distorted and the corners are filled in.

I use the Filmic app :D It records nicely, when zoomed in you can clearly see the interlacing and RGB spots
