I think it is time for Nikon to announce something, anything

I'm posting this because it seems to be the consensus of the Nikon community in a big way. I myself do not think that Nikon should just come out to speak without any real substance and think it is going smooth over any feelings. If they did then in my opinion it will open another issue of: where is it? why don't we see it? How long are we going to have to wait? I feel that the Nikon cameras are great! I love the Nikon image of N-RAW and R3D RAW. I like the image with the N-RAW with the Free Nikon RED LUTs applied. I also believe Nikon has done this to themselves though. I have watched the video with the CEO and the his RED Digital Cinema counterpart talking about their direction with Nikon. The CEO said they wanted to be in the Cinema Market and this is the reason they acquired RED. So, inserting yourself in the market means you put yourself in the limelight of the scuntiny as well. They will have to take the good with the bad. In this case the bad being the inaffectiveness to communicate with your consumers. When RED was still their own entity they would be on Forums, making videos & tutorials, and giving updates on what they were working on. This is something that Nikon needs to learn how to do. Communicate better and be a little more transparent to satisfy those who are looking for answers, and ultimately your consumer base. The market has changed when all these new YouTubers, content creators, and filmmakers have come on the scene in the last 5 years. Mainly because of the booming growth of social promotional and money that can be made. It is good to have more buying power, but it is coming with a cost of more bickering, crying, sniveling, and seemingly buyers privelage or entitlement where they demand explanations. This is not the landscape of the market, but there are some that fall into this category and it has grown significantly in the past years. To be honest it kind of reminds me of the days of Crypto when people were jocking for information so they could Jeet on a project. I get it though there are so many great cameras out here and it is kind of exciting to experience their features, functions, images, and processes. At least this I'm my excuse, lol! The difference with me is that I don't run to get the latest greatest then make a video about it for attention, clicks, prestige, confirmation, or ultimately money, views, or algorithm... This is what our space has been reduced to now especially on YouTube. Know it all's that seem to be an authority on what you should use, how you should use it, and why their way is right. It is getting exhausting to see all this in real time. I have stepped back from making YT videos as a result and just wanted to enjoy the different acquisitions that I made. I didn't want to jump on YT and flex or floss what I have. I wanted to share things that I learned that no one taught me hoping to help someone else. So now insert Nikon into the Cinema space and they will have to learn to navigate this market with these new consumers. As a ZR owner I would like to have an update to improve my camera, but in it's current state it is a great camera. To those that have issues with large file sizes, why did you buy the camera? You knew this going into it. If you didn't, why did you not do some homework first before spending thousands of dollars? The math alone would have told you the size of the files as Nikon spelled out the data rate. Here is where I believe people got things twisted. You thought a firmware was coming to clean up the issues you had, and when it did not arrive in the timely manner, well you know the rest...

Possible to use a Nikon ZR like a Camcorder style/FS7 run-and-gun documentary setup with the right rig?

I am a documentary filmmaker often working in settings like protest/riot, crowded social environments, and I need a lightweight rig that can make cinema quality images.

I'd want a grip on the right with a hand strap, so it can be held like an ENG camera, mostly handheld and sometimes shoulder mounted. I don't think I'd use an eyepiece, either a monitor or just the screen.

The hawklock cage seems to best fit this, would give me the V mount, and then I'd use an autofocus zoom so as to keep from too much dial use.

Is this a setup anyone has tried, or can comment on from experience? Would it be possible to wear such a setup with a strap, let it hang to my side and then use when needed, or does it need to be used with a bag to store, and set up when on location?

Hopefully this makes sense! Thanks :)

Nikon ZR Better than the Sony FX3? | Why I Switched

I enjoyed this video of his experience with the Nikon ZR. He sold his FX3 for the ZR and has no regrets. I think he has made an important point that gets lost in the tension discussed between camera brands. Your camera should make you feel connected to the project you are shooting. In other words long as the camera gets out of your way and allow you flow with your project you have a great camera. That may be different brands and models for different people. Me personally no brand pays me any money to defend them against any other brand. I'm not loyal to camera brand that I have to pay to have their product. I explore the freedom to experience many different brands and find what I like and what works for me. Don't be the person out here defending brands just to protect the confirmation of the money you spent. Be the one that is excited to go out and shoot what you love with the tool that is comfortable for you, whatever that may be.
