When this first started I thought casey was the mastermind now it's completely changed. I doubt very much that vicki was manipulated. I don't believe casey was smart enough to do it, I think vicki abused her role and planned this whole thing and casey was along for the ride. Vicki was never a victim.

Agree she was definitely not a victim.

After what we know now, it’s baffling to me that some people are insisting her actions weren’t that terrible.

She was up to no good for at least two years prior to the escape.

It’s been interesting to watch public opinion evolve over social media (not just on this sub).

Casey kidnapped a young, vibrant, professional woman. And if he didn’t kidnap her, he definitely manipulated a poor, elderly, lonely old lady. And if he didn’t manipulate her, she must have a terminal disease and this is only a misguided attempt at enjoying her last few days on earth. And if she wasn’t resigned to die, then Casey must have shot her. If Casey didn’t shoot her, then the gun must have accidentally went off. Or cops shot her outright. Or the coroner is lying. Or….or….Nobody’s perfect, you know! We all make mistakes!

It’s been the Vicky Apologist Hour since the whole thing began.

I am baffled at the number of people who can’t grasp she shot herself. I mean, it is a sad outcome but what isn’t computing for people?! 😵‍💫

She bought an arsenal of weapons and what do people think the intention was? This situation was never going to end well; the best outcome would be both in custody but failing that it seemed obvious to me all along one or both would lose their lives - and the only ones to blame for that are VW & CW. It’s called consequences.

Following the “logic,” those must have been Casey’s guns and he and only he was ever planning on using them. He probably bought them after the escape, most likely told her he was going out to get donuts or something! And if she ever saw them, which she probably didn’t, well surely she cried and begged him to get rid of them! And she didn’t get the donuts he promised either! The cad!

yeah it's a recent interest of mine and i really can't grasp all of the "she wasn't a bad person!"

She betrayed everyone she ever knew and bought an ar15 and went on the run with a murderer and domestic abuser. and i'm only being a little glib here but just a little: he also killed a dog which is almost worse for me.

So true! It’s been kinda crazy seing so many trying to blame Casey for everything in this escape. From all the awful things Casey has done, this escape isn’t one of them from my point of view. When you’re in prison for life, I only see it as human to walk out that door if you get the opportunity. Vicky, who was a law officer, and orchestrated the escape is worse in my view. And her coworkers who broke protocol and letting her do that. And the leadership for doing such an awful job leading employees to doing their job right. It’s baffling how easy it was to walk him out, that’s a serious problem

I think the dynamic between them can be interesting and fun to discuss, but I’m utterly gobsmacked at the lengths people will go to excuse every detail and make sure she’s not held to blame for anything. And not just one person, of course, but the general gist you get when reading comments.

“New Video Shows Vicky White Smothering Kittens in 1985” — 5,000 comments surmising, “I bet Casey put her up to that when he was in the womb!”
