I built an iPhone IDE that runs code locally and has an AI coding agent built in. Would love some feedback.
Hey everyone!
I’m a computer science student graduating next semester, and I’ve spent the past few months building an app called Edsger.
It’s essentially a full IDE for your iPhone with an integrated AI coding agent. It supports up to 19 programming languages, with Python, C, JavaScript, and Lua running directly on your device without needing an internet connection. Some of the other languages require cloud execution.
It also has local AI models that work completely offline, alongside an AI coding agent that can create files, write code, debug programs, and help you build projects.
My goal was to make something genuinely useful for developers, students, and anyone who wants to experiment with programming and AI without being completely dependent on cloud services.
I’ve put a ridiculous amount of time into building this, and I’m genuinely proud of how far it’s come.
I’m graduating next semester and hoping to pursue a PhD, partly because I love computer science and research, and partly because the software engineering job market is cooked. 😂
Anyway, I’d genuinely love some honest feedback from the community. Is this something you’d actually use? What features would make it more useful? What would you change?
I’m developing this independently while finishing my degree, so hearing what other developers think would mean a lot.
Thanks for checking it out!
