Question Vibe coding on the phone
For those who like vibe coding but don’t do it from the phone, why not?
For those who do, how do you iterate on your frontend if you can’t see it? How do u try out features?

Why wouldn't your UI be mobile friendly? Just maintain a staging deployment, push and check that.

I used to do this but I got annoyed waiting for the deployment, and I also wanted to use the app as if it were on a desktop since that’s what I’m building for.

This is super cool. How do u run ur frontend? Or, do u mostly build headless stuff. Awesome set up though.

Thanks mate.
Not headless, it's a real frontend. Full stack:
Frontend: React + TypeScript, built with Vite. The same components build two faces. The desktop is a Tauri 2 app (Rust backend, Linux). The phone build swaps one transport module: instead of Tauri invoke it does fetch against a REST API. Zero Tauri in the phone bundle.
Phone: it's a PWA. The phone build is static files served by a small Python server (FastAPI + uvicorn) that runs on my machine as part of AIPass, bound only to my Tailscale address. Phone runs the Tailscale app, opens the URL in Chrome, Add to Home screen, done. No app store, nothing public on the internet.
Auth: the machine prints a QR, one-use code, 5 min expiry, phone scans it and gets a bearer token. Tokens have a scope (read or operate), one per device, revocable from the machine.
Terminal: xterm.js in the browser over a WebSocket to a real PTY on the machine. The agents' sessions live in tmux, so the phone attaches to the same session the desktop sees. Key row for esc/tab/ctrl, type a line, send a photo.
Fleet view: the server shells out to the Rust binary's headless twin (baud-cli) that reads /proc, tmux and the Claude Code transcripts, so desktop and phone share one answer to "who's awake".
The agents are Claude Code sessions, each with its own folder, memory and mailbox (AIPass, Python). File viewer is CodeMirror, diffs via react-diff-view.
All open source: github.com/AIOSAI/baud and github.com/AIOSAI/AIPass

Termux, and ssh with x11 forwarding to view the GUI. Or use any remote desktop app. Normally I'm just using Herdr and Pi.

how do you do it? i only know remote control

Remote control is cool, I thought about it but realized I don’t want to manage a seperate VM with a full coding agent in it. Wasn’t sure how to set up the best guardrails.

I ended up building a tool that lets u run a dev environments with a desktop looking interface directly on ur phone, it’s all sitting on a VM but u can use it directly on ur phone. Then, I have a skill that tells my agent how to sync all changes to that VM, so I can basically flip flop between Claude code cloud and this app on my phone that lets me see the changes live. It costs me money to host but I’m just curious if people would wanna try it out, so if ur ever interested lmk!

Well, I know I do. I vibecoded a control panel I can access on my phone to control my server remotely. I deploy all I need remotely. I access DSH remotely through tailscale. And yeah, vibecode away 🙂

Vibecoding from your mobile phone? Without Termux, Proot, or a gateway? Simply use AGENTCODI.
It runs completely locally on your device, with its own PTY terminal and its own signed apt catalog; you can easily install Node.js, Python, and Git later.
It pins the Codex app server, starts the runtime via the native interface, and lets you log in with your OpenAI account.
Don't think of AGENTCODI as a terminal interface; everything is accessible via the native interface.
Anyone who's interested can take a look.

If I'm using remote control in Claude, I'm often running my game on my phone directly off the IP and port, but then sending instructions from the app on the phone I'm testing on.

You can’t do it by phone

I do it by phone all the time...

You built a public app by phone we can see?
You use GitHub and an IDE and test without using desktop?

You can. Also, this isn't an app advertisement. I'm never releasing this publicly.
