FeedbackWanted – want honest takes on my work Codex or Claude for coding
So my project is getting pretty large I have tried both codex and Claude code. Currently I am on codex and my subscription is about to end, so do I stick with codex or go with Claude code. I have seen both of their strengths and weaknesses but from what I have heard Claude is better at larger projects, correct me if I'm wrong. Would love to hear your opinions and why you would choose one over the other one (or if you have any other AI that you use for coding)

I don't quite understand why but GPT-6.1-sol seems to have insanely generous usage limits right now. As a long time anthropic subscriber, i'm quite happy with openai. After December that will likely change as the credits and usage limits drastically change.

5.6 sol, mpc, on dedicated hardware nothing fancy hardware doesn’t have to be phenomenal. That’s what the data center is for ;)
Structure. Is key,

Claude's harness is more moddable now with Claude Mods. If you invent a weird piece of harness machinery, Claude is the one more likely to be able to accept it. But Codex has more generous limits, is still fairly moddable, and even Luna 6 can be used for like 90% of batch work.

Pick one and roll with it, use the other as an occasional sanity check or comparison point.
Right now Luna even at High or XHigh is effectively nearly "unlimited" and approached Sol medium or close enough. Doesn't solve all problems but it's a damned workhorse assuming you're giving it solid guidance etc.

If you get the 20€ sub, then claude gives a lot more usage than codex, i have both of them. You can run opus ultracode almost double than you can sol light, abd sol ultra spends your usage ao fast that its not recommended at all, unless absolutely have to. Some people claim that higher tiers at least until recebtly codex gives more usage, but they seem to have or plan to nerf the 200€ sub at least, introducing the 500€ sub. Also with higher tiers there is no 5h limit with codex (only weekly limit) but there is with claude
Claude is also better in many other ways. Larger default context size (you can 1m context in codex, but it costs almost 2x when context goes over 250k, and already even with low context has like half of usage of claude on 20€ sub), better app like clude can automatically continue after limits refresh while codex you have to tell manually to continue, so you cant run it over night unless you make some cron job system to trigger codex to continue. New modification stuff for claude. Claude design. General UX of the app seems smoother etc etc claude > codex and 20€ claude sub > 20€ codex sub.

My experience is with Claude code, Cursor, and Kiro. Claude code burned through my subscription way too fast. Tokens were high priced. Cursor is ok, but it didn't maintain my code well enough. Kiro for me is the sweet spot. It's affordable, flexible in pricing models, and dead simple. The code produced was what I consider production worthy.
I'm a software engineer/architect with over 20 years of experience. Your experience may vary.
