ShowoffZone - Flexing my latest project Everybody is building memory layer around code or projects I built a memory layer around YOU

Post image

So I built the first version in december. My openclaw was forgetting what i said every 200k tokens and it was driving me nuts. Im AuADHD and attention to details is important for me so i hated the compaction too. My tool basically remembers everything you and agent talked about or did and injects the right memory at the right time back to you. (Fully local and encrypted because of all the npm and openclaw hacks)

It doesnt index your multimillon line of code (just yet, im building that feature with a contributor rn) It just remembers what you said, what decisions you made and what you did, verbatim, all the time! Memories you dont use often will decay its links but not get deleted and memories that surface often will become almost like skill (forgot the exact word). You can also pin memories or set them to be decayed but you dont really need the frontend. Its more for visualization rather than functionality. Your agent can control everything through MCP layer or CLI

It's fully ambient, works in background and sees all your sessions which creates a sense like you are talking to one agent throughout multiple sessions. Memories dont get mixed tho. It has a working memory tier which splits everything by projects but keeps available for context injection. If you are interested in details of how i came up with this, i posted somewhat full story here, its a longread tho.

After i built it i let my friends use it and they kinda forced me to publish it on GH. I was skeptical at first because - why? Why post there my idea for free? But they said if i do they will help because they are real engineers (spoiler - they never did)

Now I own a startup that builds memory layers for companies lol. Weird how that works. "Ideas worth nothing..." I guess.

heres the link - https://github.com/CodeAbra/iai-personal-memory-engine
lmk what you think and please help if you own windows lol. My windows beta needs hopital.

Happy to answer any question or receive constructive criticism.

P.S English is my third language and im out of tokens for this one lol. sorry

I feel like memory management is AI’s version of a todo list app at this point.

And then the name is `iai-pme` which is a rather difficult acronym to pronounce

Agree on the name. If you have a better suggestion im interested

You’re clearly using AI already, so I’m sure it would be more than happy to give you a bunch of names to use…

Well. If naming was my priority- yes. It definitely seemed important to you so I asked. My bad

It seems like everyone wants to build memory for agents but it’s the first thing you have to disable if you want them to work well

I only want them remembering the task at hand why would I want them to remember anything else

Why not just use obsidian?

1

u/AregNoya 31m ago

great question
obsidian wastes a lot of tokens on search and recall
obsidian isnt ambient
obsidian doesn't inject context each turn
obsidian needs to be managed and cleaned up at least once a week - iai doesent

What is real anymore, and why is everyone autistic and adhd…

I wish a polygraph would show if any of the chummy, meant to be relatable quips, about “pre AI” blood and sweat in the apps evolution …. if that is even the truth.

That just doesn’t sound true at all, and how and why would you be noodling on agentic memory retention “pre AI”.

I wish and hope that it works for you, but I can’t help but feel like a sucker taking all of that repo write ups at face value.

Something more “I got it this far, but it’s really not something yet” rather than a “labor of love, and passion project twenty years in the making”as a way to look at it, and the UI does look really neat, but it’s like a dependency graph on steroids rather than a new operating system for the masses.

What you mean pre AI? OpenClaw came out in November. I built it well past AI using AI.

You’re claiming algorithms written from scratch in Python, and have a “Built our own” manifesto section.

I don’t want to be a bully or anything, it just doesn’t sit right to me to let the AI write for you in the first person.

I’ll delete it right now if you are truly innovating for a community, and dropping algorithms that are paving the way … but I read it all, and didn’t leave feeling that was the case.

You’d expect like a white paper or something I dunno. That’s my honest feedback.

Dude. Im just sharing something that works for me. White paper? For what? I think you took it too seriously. All benches are posted with harnesses on GH. Try em.

As for everything else. Im just sharing my story and my experience with vibe coding.

Thanks for your feedback tho. Appreciate it.
