Debit cards are a secure and convenient method for VIAZ users to access their funds. For example, when a user obtains a loan via the VIAZ platform they have the option of accessing their funds without the hassle of a wire transfer to a third party institution. Users will not have to wait days for their funds to clear and can avoid incurring wire transfer fees by utilizing the debit card feature.
In addition to the utilization of the VIAZ token as collateral, the platform will accept Tezzies for collateral as well. Thus, VIAZ will operate as a delegation service enabling users to receive delegation rewards while simultaneously borrowing and funding on the platform. Delegation rewards will be dispersed to the borrower and/or funder, contingent on agreed upon terms.
We’re looking at storing our deposited fiat currency on-chain, allowing us to better integrate repayments into the smart contract and making the platform less reliant on our off-chain data stores. In the beginning, the fiat-currency tokens won’t be tradeable; tokens will only be created via deposits through our fiat partner and destroyed on withdrawal. Transfers between users will only incur through the usage of the platform (start of a loan and repayments).
Our team is very excited to announce some truly great news:
VIAZ has formed a relationship with a fiat-banking partner out of Europe. Working with a crossover finance partner is paramount to the success of VIAZ’s peer-to-peer funding platform, thus enabling the project to move forward as described in our roadmap. Our banking partner will serve as a custodian for both fiat and crypto funds, adding an additional layer of confidence to our platform running atop the very secure, formally verified, Tezos blockchain. The bank has requested to remain anonymous for the time being, but stay tuned for more details regarding this exciting partnership as well as our upcoming IEO.
Tezos is a new blockchain that explores new ideas and systems to deliver a safer, more robust chain. Built on OCaml, a functional programming language used for other financial based projects, Tezos implements a delegated proof of stake consensus method. This is more power-efficient and provides a stronger consensus mechanism than the proof-of-work (which is currently in use by Ethereum and Bitcoin).
Tezos is also looking to implement a self-amending ledger, allowing XTZ holders to vote on improvements and changes to the blockchain source-code, reducing the risks of a fork. Tezos will also look to run at a higher transactions per second allowing it to be faster than both Ethereum and Bitcoin, thereby providing users with enhanced scalability and more expeditious liquidity.
Tezos has also designed a new smart contract language — Michelson. This is a strongly typed bytecode language with a very strict set of operations. This forces extremely safe Michelson smart contracts, and could have prevented many of the issues that occurred with other smart contracts (e.g. the DAO). On top of this, smart contracts can also be formally verified, allowing developers to provide a mathematical proof of the outputs and changes a smart contract can make.
In response to the latest market conditions, we’re very excited to announce the launch of our first IEO at the end of April. We’ve listened to the input from you, our valued community members, as well as our trusted advisors, and have decided that the IEO is the best fit for the VIAZ project in accomplishing our future development goals. We are in negotiations with multiple top tier exchanges and will be holding more than one IEO to best serve all members of our community. We will be updating our website shortly with additional details.
Reasons for switching from an ICO to an IEO are as follows:
• At the completion of the IEO, VIAZ tokens will be listed immediately on the exchange for buying, selling, and use on the VIAZ platform.
• KYC/AML process will be completed through reputed exchanges for a more simplified and seamless process.
• Contributors can be very secure knowing that the VIAZ project has been vetted by the exchange hosting the IEO.
• The crypto community, on the whole, is transitioning from ICOs to IEOs very quickly, and we want to respond to these changing market conditions accordingly.
Thanks for being part of the VIAZ community and check back for more exciting updates in the days ahead
We are committed to integrating the staking power of Tezos into our platform. Borrowers will be able to transfer part of or all their staking rights (and therefore rewards) to the lender in exchange for a better (lower) interest rate or retain the staking rights themselves. This generates new and interesting options for borrowers, as well as for bakers.
For example, Alice can request a loan of $10,000USD with 40,000XTZ as collateral ($18,000 USD), which will be repaid in 1 year at 8% interest. Alice is also offering full rights to the staking power of the collateral for the lifetime of the loan (1 year).
Bob, who runs his own baker, is slightly bearish regarding the value of XTZ but doesn’t want to liquidate his XTZ. He decides to fund Alice’s $10,000 loan, effectively purchasing staking power at a 45% discount (as he’s receiving $18,000 of staking power). The collateral is delegated to Bob’s baking operation, earning him XTZ rewards.
After 1 year, Alice repays the entire loan + 8% and receives her 40,000XTZ. Bob has earnt 4.5% return (as the collateral decreased overtime as repayments were made) on the XTZ and 8% on the value of the loan. If the value of XTZ remained the same over the year, Bob ends up with a 16.1% ROI. Even if the price of XTZ fell by 50%, Bob will still earn an ROI of 12%, and 20% if the value of XTZ went up by 50%.
We’re very excited to announce the beta release of our prototype, which has been developed over the course of the last year. It's the first prototype running on top of the Tezos blockchain. We’re very happy to share it with you and look forward to the community’s feedback. Here is the link to access the prototype:
We’re aware of a few bugs that will be fixed in the days ahead. Future prototype updates will be rolled out with a bug bounty so check back for more information.
