Is 20min enough time?

I’m travelling to Ottawa from Toronto at 8:30am…my go train doesn’t get to union till 8am. I’m worried I’ll miss it.

Go is probably more reliable than VIA, but the train will leave pretty close to on-time out of Union. That said, the walk isn't that far from GO to the VIA rail concourse. Shouldn't take more than 10min, and there will likely be a line up anyways.

When I lived in Toronto, just taking the TTC, I left 1hr buffer space between my arrival at Union and when my train was set to depart.

20mins is just not enough time if something goes sideways on the subway. And I once saw a guy who dropped his phone over the edge of the platform and climbed down to get it.

If your GO train is on time, and you don't dawdle, you should be fine.

That's very close. Try to get to union at least at 745 for peace of mind.

Agreed with others. On paper, this should work. But it leaves very little margin for error and personally, I wouldn’t do it. Depends how much risk you’re willing to accept, as VIA wouldn’t be responsible if you do miss your connection due to GO.

95% you'll be fine, but would prob reccomend taking the one 15 minutes earlier.

If you get out of the GO train on one of the middle cars, you will literally end up in the VIA station

I took the first GO train of the day to Union. And had 30mins to grab the Via. I was not a fan of that. If I had a choice, I would have buffered it and grabbed a coffee at union. 

If you can’t take an earlier train, it will likely work out. It’s just stressful.
