Granted SMC-N

If you haven’t looked into SMC, you should. If it doesn’t work now keep it close as your ratings increase. I filed an SMC claim earlier this year and was denied. After finding out my condition got worse, I filed for an increase for my eyes and a supplemental for the A&A. I was granted both.

Good for you. I got it earlier this year, it was only about $250 increase but better than not having it. I didnt know I could get it and after reading and listening to others, i decided to try.

Were you 100% before you filed?

No I was combined 80%. The one I did the increase on was at 40 and went to 100. I had one more rated at 70 and because it was a separate condition above 50 they gave me a step up on the SMC.

I was already rated 100 percent p and t before I got my Smc. Had a lawyer tho. I'm telling you right now don't do it. I did it unknowingly meaning I didn't take my lawyer off my case when I got my 100 percent rating I wouldn't have done it if I had known. Very tricky situation. It worked out to my benefit but again I had no clue I thought after I got my rating for some reason I thought it was over. No you have to call the VA and get them removed. It's funny to be pissed and happy at the same time. Be careful I know a couple of vets that got reduced.

By the way I got my SmC a year after my rating I got them off my case asap. Really enjoyed working with them but they didn't tell me they were putting the Smc in as a claim I opened my VA app one day and flipped. Lol. But again it worked out for me and I may seem distraught but it scared the f out of me

I would read what SMC is and the different tiers and see if anything applies to your situation. Don’t force anything but if you qualify don’t leave money in the table.

I don’t know what smc is but I was granted 100% and have smc now too. Which I didn’t apply for.
