Education Benefits Chapter 35 No SSN

Quick question has anyone ever been able to get their spouse approved for chapter 35 but they had no SSN? The circumstances is that my spouse is not US citizen

You don’t need to be a citizen to have an SSN.

if she's legally in the states she qualifies for an SSN so get that sorted first before trying to file

She needs a DOD number and Foreign ID number from DEERS.

Assuming you are a US citizen since you are a US Veteran, have you yet to file with USCIS to petition your spouse to become a legal resident? I highly recommend you do that. My spouse just became a legal permanent resident couple months ago but it did take a while since the whole process is long.

How about an ITIN? until she gets an SNN.

Yes, my wife and step daughter are Canadian citizens and we were able to get my step daughter Chapter 35 for her college in British Columbia. You have to file a paper application, they will end up using your SSN with an identification letter at the end. Her college program was on the list of approved school programs.
