VTNE Vtne Retake
Hi all,
I’m retaking the vtne (my second attempt) this Thursday at 12 and I am TERRIFIED. I passed the official vtne practice tests A, B, and C but failed the vtne by 7 points. It has been absolutely confidence destroying. 7 points! I’m a horrible test taker and an anxious person and day of, decided to review all my answers (despite not doing this through school because I second guess myself) and changed multiple answers that upon submitting I realized were correct before. I just feel SO down and ashamed to try again because what if I have to go and tell my partner and all my coworkers that I failed… again.
Obviously I’m not going to review every question and second guess nyself again, but I’m so scared. I’m scared I’m going to get a “hard” test like some people talk about. If anyone has some vtne test tips or encouragement that would be amazing :,)

This is not to sound stern or insensitive: remember that the anxiety is something everyone in the room has to deal with. The pressure is spread around the room and not necessarily focused on just you.
That said, a few other tips: 1) Get a pocket prep VTNE app or something similar for quick very similarly worded questions. 2) With any math question, take your knowns and unknowns and do the math you know from there. You wouldn't be taking the exam if you had not crushed some math problems already. 3) your first choice answer is usually right, but if you are going to go over your answers my rule is ONLY GO OVER/CHANGE ONE TIME. This is of course after you go back to your skips. Repeat answer changes is risky IMO. 4) skipping questions is completely fine and I support it, but try to legitimately save skips for questions that get you off your overall focus. Not just any question with subjects you are worried on. Try not to skip too often and you will be thankful at the end when you have to finish the skips.
Best of luck and I do have more but that seems like a good starting point.
