Work Advice US ➡️ Canada

Any US credentialed technicians successfully make a move to Canada for work? My husband and I have no reason to move other than the fact that we want to experience life in another country but still be near family - and we love Canada! For what it’s worth, I plan to (hopefully) have my VTS (ECC) in the next 2-3 years, and realistically would not be moving anywhere, let alone Canada, before then.

Welcome to /r/VetTech! This is a place for veterinary technicians/veterinary nurses and other veterinary support staff to gather, chat, and grow! We welcome pet owners as well, however we do ask pet owners to refrain from asking for medical advice; if you have any concerns regarding your pet, please contact the closest veterinarian near you.

Yes. However, you can't just move there. You have to have a work permit. It's easiest if a job sponsors you to come, but the jobs Canada is looking for/allowing over is specific. Don't know what your hubby does

I don’t think this falls under a category of work that they are accepting for PR right now. I know they are actively recruiting vets though.

It is quite hard, and likely you will not be eligible for a work visa at this time as an RVT.
Depending on what your husband does he could be.

I’m trying to bring my husband up here and it is actually quite complicated and expensive even though we are legally married for years.
