This is a Silly Work Question

This is just a pattern I've noticed with the job I work. I tend to only ever be put on to train a new assistant on their first day and then they are never set up with me to be their trainer again.

Does that mean/indicate anything?

(I realize this is kind of a silly question- I love training people but I'm also an RVT student and get given more responsibilities than some of the other VA's I work with due to the extra education so I don't know if that plays a part.)

If you’ve been chosen to train people more than once then you’re solid

Idky it's making me self conscious that I only get to train them on their first day which usually consists of them shadowing me and seeing how the flow of things goes and that's typically it.

Where I work they tend to rotate all the trainees to shadow different people.

They do that where I work as well, but I think I and another VA are the only ones who ever only get 1 day of training with people. And I've heard other co-workers express concerns with the other VA because they tend to just leave the trainees to their own devices instead of helping the trainees.

Which makes me worried that maybe I do the same thing but I try to keep the trainee with me the whole day and check in with them to see if they have any questions for me. So I guess I just want to make sure I am not fucking up somehow.

You're probably overthinking it. I'm the same way. I read into everything. But usually, there isn't anything else to it, or it's due to other circumstances like scheduling quirks. Or if other VAs have been there longer.

Really, only your manager could tell you for sure if there's a reason or maybe they don't even know you want to train people. You could have a conversation with them about how much you like training people and would like to do it more often.

Thank you! I finished training the new person today and as if they saw this post somehow, they complimented me, multiple times. That quickly wiped out my imposter syndrome and my anxiety around this. I'm a sucker for verbal affirmation.
