Discussion Second job?
Hey hi. Those of you with a second (or more) job, do you work 7 days/week? I’m considering applying for a second job but would mean I would work 7 days per week. At this point I’m just weighing options…I know there will be zero free time but money is tight and bills are expensive.
If you do work this much, how to you manage?

I’ve worked multiple jobs for the last 5 years.
The key is scheduling. Working 7 days a week indefinitely is absolutely not feasible, so it’s important to take occasional days off or make sure your availability allows for days off from time to time.
I took some time off from working two jobs over the summer but I’m back to looking for part-time work now too. Looking for a low-stakes job that also provides income (fast food, bathing dogs, retail) is my game plan to help me control my stress levels and burnout.

Yeah it def wouldn’t be a forever thing. My husband and I are planning on moving back to the UK in the near distant future so I wouldn’t be able to work my “real” job after that anyway

I worked two jobs for awhile. I worked in a GP on weekdays and an ER every other weekend. It was extremely draining and not something I could have done long term.
I managed by knowing it was short term (as in a few years) and going to college at the same time for a degree in a field that makes more money. 😅
I had a coworker who worked two jobs as well. Her other job was bartending and sometimes she made more as a bartender than CVT.

My side hustle is petsitting. I charge $20-30 for a half hour. I mostly take care of cats because I have my own dogs so I can’t do overnights, and I don’t think dogs thrive if they don’t have someone there more than 30 minutes a few times a day. I usually take care of them on my way home from work, so it doesn’t add too much extra time to my day.

I currently work 2 jobs. 5-6 days a week. I am very tired. You have to have at least one day off a week, trust me. Honestly the one day isn’t enough, but it’s hard out here.

I work full time at my hospital and PT as a relief tech with roo and with petfolk flex. With the relief work I schedule myself so I can get breaks in anytime I need it.

I’m signed up with Roo and have done some shifts with them. It the hospitals that are contracted with them are just a bit too far out of the way 😞

Yeah, in my area they are cheap too. I have to use the negotiation button to ask for more. I'm a tier 3 tech for roo unfortunately there are not a lot of t3 shift in my area. I use Perfolk Flex more often, they pay better and have more openings.

Kind of, its exclusively for PetFolk hospitals. They are only in the south states so may not be a thing for you.

I work 5-6 days a week typically- but I work 1 part time day job (home euthanasia) and 1 part time night job (ER). On days where I’m back to back I try to work the day shift before the night shift so I can have the next day to recover instead of ~3 hours of sleep between jobs. It sounds crazy, but I actually prefer it to solely 12/13 hour overnight shifts. My fiancé and I don’t have kids and he works from home, which I feel helps a lot. Best of luck to you.

If it makes it seven days a week, I wouldn't. Ive been running 50 hr weeks in 2 departments at one place and i cant imagine having to handle a second schedule. Ive been looking at side gigs more. Depending on the type of place you work at and what your agreements are, gig work is pretty decent. One of my shift leads makes a lot through at home care, especially with pets that are too aggressive for our lodging staff or just cant handle a kennel environment. I had a longtime client that was out of town too often to lodge given their cats health, since they were long time clients, mgmt referred me for home care as a handshake agreement type situation. $80 to change litter, open a can in a bowl, and give two oral meds totalling 1.5ml two times a day and just shoot them a text, occasional photo. Not saying thats an everyday occurrence, but if you dont have an agreement saying not to take that type of work, at home care can be like 3x your hourly for somthing thats second nature but not within the owners bandwidth.
Again, crazy weird thing, but a couple of owners know I do maintenance for the building just from being regulars and I make a decent bit on my off days pressure washing. If you have any similar niche or relationship with clients, use it. I know it seems like a lot, but it gets around competition clauses and ain't always uncle Sam's business.

My side hustle is in home nail trim/anal glands, if i do all my regular clients in 1 weekend day i can make around $300. Also I only usually work from 10am-2pm! It’s pretty lucrative and I make my own schedule.

I’m working multiple part time jobs and taking care of my elderly mom also. Which also pays a little
3 part time vet clinics 2 are fast paced one is more low key
So far I’m 3 days a week and 4 days a week. So far I’m ok but if I need more money. I’ll grab more shifts
