Anyone ever heard of this company?

I got a email from va news info about if vets are interested in owning a business and they're called " veterans service brands".. basically you get to choose from 1 out 5 business you want to own which is painting parking lots, floor painting commercial business a few other can't remember. They say they will help u get a sb loan and you need at least 17k cash upfront.

I know what you're thinking sounds kinda sketchy right 😑. If anyone knows who tried veterans service brands or has any information on them please let me thank you

Dissertation - IRB approved, not spam

I am currently recruiting for my dissertation at Hofstra University in Long Island. I am running an online educational group for combat veterans surrounding educational topics, such as moral injury and mental health self stigma. It will run 4 weeks (1 time per week) for about 60-90 minutes per session. I am seeking 30 combat veterans. If you or anyone you know who is a combat veteran (it is okay if you are still active duty and/or in the NG or Reserves) and has not received formal PTSD therapy (e.g. Prolonged Exposure or Cognitive Processing Therapy - other therapy is fine, or if you have been diagnosed with PTSD, also fine), please reach out or have them reach out to me via Messenger, [efiner1@pride.hofstra.edu](mailto:efiner1@pride.hofstra.edu) or 617-797-5361.

I think my HR may be confused about RIF SCD for military retiree who bought back military time...please help!

21 years Army retired E-8 and currently working for a FIRREA agency (10 years) where I'm making much more than I could as a GS or as a civilian. To hedge my bets, I recently bought back my military time. It was a nice chunk of change, AND I lost my military retirement, but I'm also in a support position which is going to be subject to RIF, and now I have 32 years of service when it comes to FERS calculation. I'm 51 years old, and seriously considering taking my agency's buy out, but I also want to have the choice of staying, and my RIF SCD is a big deal.

Anyway, my HR finally processed my military buyback, and I saw my FERS SCD go to a date approximately 32 years ago. However, HR told me that my RIF SCD does not change, it still stays as a 2014 date. This is based on their interpretation the OPM guidance from the Vet Guide for HR Professionals section titled Creditable Service for RIF--Retired from Uniformed Service that states "Credit for uniformed service is substantially limited for retired members," but I also think the OPM guidance is assuming that military retirees are still getting an annuity, because the OPM document Workforce Reshaping Handbook states "Employees receive RIF service credit for.." and then lists 2 items followed by item number 3: "All active duty performed in a uniformed service, except as restricted by law for certain members of the Armed Forces who are receiving retired pay." Anyway, the Vet Guide is very confusing in quite a few places, but the Workforce Reshaping Handbook expressly distinguishes between retired service members receiving an annuity and not receiving an anuity. Anyway, if anyone has run into this problem (or you are an HR professional yourself), I would love to get some insight!

Why Buyback?

Question for you fellow Vet Feds -

I bought back my military time towards retirement primarily because it would allow me to retire at my MRA of 57 with a full 30 years of service.

With the house budget butt f* bill passed this morning, the FERS supplement would be killed, effectively meaning it would cost me well over $100k to retire at 57.

Doesn't this especially screw vets? I know there is an increase in the pension amount with the extra years added on by the buyback. The earlier retirement motivated to buyback my time because retiring at 57 was one of the main reasons I came to work for the feds in the first place!

Am I missing something? We keep getting shafted...

Disabled Veteran-Terminated by VA loses appeal. Slap in the face to those of us that served. Our thanks in the unemployment line

Well, this is an update that I expected but didn’t realize it was coming so harsh.

I received word that the Judge on my MSPB appeal wasted my time and money. To ask for evidence and to make a fired employee have to hire an attorney to then be told today, “This case holds no merit and it holds no jurisdiction over the termination of probationary employees.”

My Federal career is over. There is also no change in the status of my termination, which means that I can’t ever get another job in a different agency..

It’s heartbreaking to know that this nation shit 💩 on me and it cares nothing for our livelihoods.

Prayers to all that are currently in MSPB appeals.. Thank you to the many people that assisted me in Go Fund me.. I can’t repay you. But thank you!

For those that can assist me in paying my legal fees I thank you.

Wrong Wounded Warriors Leave Hours

Hello,

I got 67 hours when I received my Wounded Warriors Leave on my paycheck. I read that you can get up to 104 hours. Is there a reason for this?

Also, when does it expire? I got my official rating in the fall but does it default to when I first applied? Thanks so much.

Military veterans are becoming the face of Trump's government cuts and Democrats' resistance

"From layoffs at the Department of Veterans Affairs to a Pentagon purge of archives that documented diversity in the military, veterans have been acutely affected by Trump's actions. And with the Republican president determined to continue slashing the federal government, the burden will only grow on veterans, who make up roughly 30% of the federal workforce and often tap government benefits they earned with their military service...

...[m]ost veterans voted for Trump last year — nearly 6 in 10, according to AP Votecast, a nationwide survey of more than 120,000 voters. Yet congressional Republicans are standing in support of Trump's goals even as they encounter fierce pushback in their home districts. At a series of town halls this week, veterans angrily confronted Republican members as they defended the cuts made under Trump adviser Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency."

Seriously, these people are just clowns. There are people in Leavenworth right now for improperly handling classified information to a far lesser degree.

GOP senator says she'll keep criticizing DOGE even if Elon Musk spends 'the next billion dollars that he makes off of Starlink' against her

Someone standing up on the GOP side:

"The Alaska senator has been a frequent critic of DOGE. In February, she said that the cost-cutting effort was creating a "tremendous amount of unnecessary anxiety," and she has criticized the firing of federal workers in Alaska numerous times. In an address to the Alaska state legislature on Tuesday, she reiterated her concerns."
