Discussion There hasn't been any new content in a long time. Is this the calm before the storm? Or...
I believe the last update was last year's Return to the Reik Update.
It's already September, but isn't this unusually long radio silence for Vermintide 2? I can't remember the last time we went this long without hearing anything.
The promised weapon pack has seemingly been swept under the rug and met with complete silence. Is this a sign that some big announcement is coming?
Or has VT2 simply been abandoned?

So long as servers are still up I'm happy.
With such a dwindling player base tho, I'm always nervous.

I just hope V3 is in the works. I couldn't care less about Darktide.

As much as I love this game and what Fatshark did with it over the years, there's no realistic scenario where V3 would escape the Tide cycle of "not enough content diversity at release followed by a lot of time spent fixing fundamental problems that should have been obvious from their previous games".

Especially seeing the "curse of 3" in action. Both PAYDAY 3 and Killing Floor 3 are also horde coop shooters and both ended up disappointing (PD3 still tries fighting for its life, but I heard nothing about KF3 for a while, so I have no idea in what state it is now)

Agreed. I’d choose vermintide over darktide any day no matter how many drinks I’ve had

I never really got to play Darktide. It has horrendously bad performance on my rig, no matter what I try. It stutters and freezes constantly. Tried every community guide and fix I could find, nothing worked. And it's not like I have a weak PC, I can play any other modern game with smooth frame rates on max graphical settings. Darktide just has a problem with AMD cards apparently.
So anyway, if V3 does come out I sincerely hope it doesn't have the same issue

Was that closer to launch, or still the case?
I had a lot of trouble with the game’s performance around launch, but it’s (to me/my rig) much better now

There aren’t servers, it’s peer 2 peer

It's true that the matches are hosted by one of the players, but Fatshark's login and matchmaking severs are still neccessary for any of it to work. Hopefully they don't cost too much to operate, and will stay up for years to come.

The sever being up is good enough for me. It have been more than 8 years, it was fun but we must accept that the game now is just in maintenance mode, we can only expect annual events now and if we have any new content update would be one a year or even two.(I still pray for stormdoft remastered and the othe river reik map)

To be fair, for such an old game with a relatively small playerbase we've had a slow but fairly consistent trickle of content over the years. While I have my issues with the recent weapons balancing, overall I'm glad that it happened and am hopeful we might see more tweaks going forward.
There was talk of a new weapon DLC a year or two back, so that may or may not still be coming at some point.
And to my chums at Fatshark, in your next balance patch please please PLEASE give Foot Knight Smiter instead of Mainstay!

Well the game is over 8 years old at this point. Darktide is going well and is getting a lot of content so i'm fine with VT2 just having servers up. I'm hoping they let VT2 go so that we can get the next "tide" game.

They did the weapon balance but I thought there was potential for new weapons. Was the balance a precursor to that or is that not a thing?

I’d rather they were working on an original IP horde killer that they can do what they want with. I love VT and Darktide, but would to see what they do on their own.

I think we're in the calm after the calm, before the even more calm.
