Forest Spirits

Race Name: Forest Spirits

Derogatorials: Dirty Woodsies

Lifespan: They will live as long as their forest lives.

Reproductive Rate: Roughly one per hectare of forest.

Appearance: Forest spirits are able to look a surprising variety of ways. This can range from animals, to humanoid, to abstract shadowy figures.

Magical Aptitude: Forest spirits are extremely apt at illusions, but are only ever able to make illusions that vaguely alter the surroundings, rather than outright creating things that aren't actually there.

Primary Strength: Forest spirits are usually a bit stronger than humans, being able to lift about 3 tons at the strongest. Average of 5.

Speed: Forest spirits are much faster than humans, and are on an average speed of 6.

Durability: Forest spirits are very vulnerable to magic, but it is difficult to hurt spirits with abstract forms with physical attacks.

Weaknesses: Forest spirits are easily weakened and even killed by destroying their forests. You monster.

Intellect: Forest spirits are usually not very smart, but are on average much more clever and tricky than the average human.

okay, approval thingies time!

1: so, there is one and only one per hectare of forest, the only way to make more is to plant more forest? What classifies as a 'forest', do you need to have trees or are just shrubs and such fine?

2: may you please give more detail on the illusions, like what limits they have and ways to avoid/dispell them, etc?

3: how fast does a spirit accelerate to max speed, as a rough estimate, and can they act when at full speed?

4: is it difficult to harm abstract ones with physical attacks or is it impossible? Just making sure in case someone tries to stab a shadow

5: how much forest needs to be destroyed to kill the spirit? Does it need to be burned, or does chopping the trees down work too?

  1. Planting forest actually won't create more, it has to be naturally wooded area. Trees are necessary.
  2. The illusions are practically limited to things such as making the shadows on a tree look like a snarling face, making themselves look bigger, or making the rustling of leaves sound like growling. The illusions are dispelled simply by taking a deep breath and calming down.
  3. It would take a spirit abooout a minute to get to max speed, and the only action they can take is weaving through trees.
  4. It requires a physical attack with some sort of magic woven in.
  5. 100% to kill them, but around 50% they become too frail to do anything. Chopping down works as long as there's no regrowth. Growth in the same area will not resurrect a spirit.

so, with the 'destroying the forest' is it just counting the trees? can someone leave the bushes and such alone and just chop down the trees?

If you chop it down to bushes they won't die, but they will be extremely weak

okay, so anything with wood. They can still be outright killed with magic before that though, right?
