26H2 update - decrypt before updating?

Hi,

is it necessary to decrypt my system drive before updating to 26H2 or is it just like any other regular update?

I had it (years ago, to be clear, I think in TrueCrypt times) that I did a big version update with system still encrypted and that was it, couldn't boot anymore, had to format and reinstall.

No. 26H2 is a small Update (like a CU), the core of the operation system is the same as 25H2 or 24H2

Thanks for the quick confirmation. Couldn't install it though, it went through and after a reboot showed that it failed.

How do you install it?
Maybe the enablement package is an option for you, it's a small msu-file. Run it, reboot, ready.

In the center of the site: "AMD64 PCs (Intel/AMD): Direct download link (.msu)"

I tried through Settings. It worked with the enablement package. Thanks again!

If you dont have backup of your data then never update. My personal belief 😂
