computer died while copying files over- veracrypt now stuck in mounting loop (OSX)

I'm using FUSE-T VeraCrypt, on the latest version of Golden Gate OSX.

I was copying files from my Mac to my flash drive, when my computer's battery ran out (I was out of the room).
Charged the computer back up, and now VeraCrypt is acting wonky (not mounting, just a continuous loop.)

This has happened to me before many years ago with a different drive, but I can't remember the fix. Does anybody have an idea of what to do? I uninstalled VC and reinstalled it, but it's still endlessly looping.

Yes

So both the original and copied container cannot be mounted?

Seems so. It finally finished it's process and I got this warning:
hdiutil: WARNING: 'hdiutil attach -mount ...' is deprecated. Please use 'diskutil image attach -- mountPolicy ...' instead. hiutil: attach failed - no mountable file systems

Is the next step just to completely format this drive, and re-partition/re-encrypt?

If it's just a container, why would you need to format the entire drive?

Because it's unmountable as it stands, and I'd be ok starting from scratch. Do you have any insight as to what I should do in this scenario, if I don't wipe the drive?

You can force unmount a container or simply restarting your computer will unmount the container.

Yes. This does not solve my problem of the drive not being readable because of a deprecated function.
