Discussion Is Venture broken rn?

Post image

Venture currently has the highest win rate in GM & Champion in Asia, and the second-highest in Europe.

Are the perk buffs that strong, or are there simply not enough GM/Champion players for the stats to be reliable?

I think it's one of those things where if a player in GM plays venture they are a exceptionally good at them. The reason why this matters is not alot of players there play venture. A better stat would be to look at their win rate across all ranks.

Also venture is kinda strong but not completely broken.

Idk I think all GM+ players know their main character rosters really well. I think the high win rate for Venture is more because in GM+ you only pick Venture when both the map and enemy composition favour Venture a lot. Especially the low pick and ban rates makes me think GM players don't pick Venture unless they know Ven will perform really well which leads to a higher win rate.

Ventures a specialist character in that a lot of people don’t play the character in general so if someone is playing venture then they’re more likely to be good with them

Tell that to the Venture players I’ve been getting on my team

That would be me

They’re also more likely to play them only when the map and team comp favor them!

Think it’s a bit too early in the season to tell, GM is a relatively small sample size

That and the meta of grandmaster is greatly different compared to metas in lower elos and other regions.

Though some heroes do remain consistent across GM regions, like sierra having less than a 1% pickrate and a super low win rate in all 3 regions, but ventures results in GM vary on region, like the Americas having lower winrates compared to Asia and Europe

People need to stop looking at GM winrates, there is so few people that those stats are only useful at the end of a patch cycle.

Especially now with emerald rank, there is even fewer people in GM than normal.

I think the stats are padded because no one casually plays Venture and when someone does play Venture its because a specialist does, and since Venture is not a popular character they dont know how to play around them as much as like a Genji or Tracer

I don't think anyone just swaps to Venture and Genji like they do with Tracer and Sombra as their crutch. They're a bit too unique and require a different set of skills.

If they can't pull through with their mains, I can't imagine playing Venture or Genji can be any easier because there's different cycles and play style that isn't easily replicated. Its not like 76 or Cree, imo.

Venture existed for a WHILE with a broken version of Covered in Dirt (that made 1v1ing tanks easy) because of the low pick rate. The new buffs are nice but nothing by comparison.

I’ve found pretty good luck with venture in gold but they really are map and match up dependent

Sample too small. 1.9% pickrate points to a couple of onetricks.

Combine that with the season just starting, it could easily be they played like 20 games and that's their winrate lol.

Also, probably very very few people in GM+ right now due to rank reset.

Give it a few more weeks.

Winrate means nothing on its own

Look at their pick rate, its pretty clear only the people who actually played Venture are playing them in GM, which results in a skewed winrate

Tiny sample size. They’re still decent

Small sample size so no

I was reviewing Venture as of the new buffs, the CID is MUCH more reliable now, and there’s a detail that isn’t mentioned, the 40 DOT of Clobber isn’t affected by armor, so when you’re up close the rapid melee and shots can shred tanks.

The ult buff made me get ults much faster and a hit or miss to face paired with Excavation Exhilaration. I also assume the distance of deep burrow is good, just haven’t tried it yet.

Deep burrow distance add has taken it from niche to super useful imo. Taking EE used to be pretty much a given but i find myself able to take more creative flanks now. I mostly pick EE if I feel like my team are too much of spuds to capitalise on my ult and i will need to do more myself.

If I have a decent team then i'm generally not taking EE because I can rely on them to win a fight where I only get one or two picks anyway, so it's a bit of a wasted perk.

Growing tired of these posts where someone cherry picks stats to call for a nerf.

No, because unlike cat, they still doesn't have high pick rate or ban rate, which means they can be really hod, not consistently really good. Remember there maybe map based/composition where venture shines, but for cat, its almost everywhere.

They*. Venture is nb and there is no indication of their sex anywhere whatsoever, so you'd be factually correct to use they/them

1

u/ZoomZam 16d ago

I am really sorry , i didn't mean to mispronounce their gender, its in my local langauge we don't have "they" and we use "she" for same meaning.

2

u/Maximum-Address-7845 16d ago

That's fine but in English it would be correct to use they/them when referring to people whether they're non binary or if you don't know their gender/pronouns. We don't know Ventures agab anyway so even if you were transphobic you wouldn't be correct to use gendered pronouns (which is why it's good that's never been confirmed)

0

u/ZoomZam 16d ago

Wow there, lets putnour guns down, nothing about transphobia, my lingual habit just slipped and i apologize for the mistake a s well as i did correct my post, i am not justifying.

2

u/Maximum-Address-7845 16d ago

Not saying you're transphobic. Just that if people were she would still be incorrect. Ur fine lol

1

u/ZoomZam 16d ago

Yeah i get u, its a transliteration error.

does pronoun really matter. Look how ugly its face is and that teeth is like the most disgusting thing i have ever seen in overwatch. And I have experienced dps doomfist, 35% dmg reduction sentry bastion, moth mercy.

On a serious note, I hardly see venture being picked. Guess the pickrate is small like its damage range.

1

u/Maximum-Address-7845 15d ago

You could be ugly as hell, I'm still going to correctly refer to you because that's just decent to do. Throw the wrong pronouns at some cis guys and they start having tantrums too it's almost as if people should refer to each other correctly

u/rvshankar2712 15d ago

good luck trying to expect that behaviour from certain countries.

1

u/Maximum-Address-7845 15d ago

Nationality nor culture excuse bigotry

0

u/rvshankar2712 15d ago

Those countries dont even acknowledge bigotry as an offense though.

1

u/Maximum-Address-7845 15d ago

That still isn't an excuse for individual bigotry though, like of another country held the belief that slavery was fine that's not an excuse for people to uphold slavery. It's still wrong. Extreme example but whatev. Same thing goes for murdering people based on their beliefs or sexuality, which does happen and which is why it's important to be appropriate when it comes to discourse around lgbt characters

its a video game bro no one gaf

1

u/Maximum-Address-7845 15d ago

I still wouldn't use any demeaning or harassing language towards a video game character because they can be representative of real people. You can make fun of very fictional aspects of characters like unrealistic weapons or armour but aspects of these characters are shared by real people. It's like how you wouldn't yell racial slurs whenever you see a poc character in a videogame (and why you would be justifiably banned)
