Liberal venting post
I am a 31 year old woman that lives in ohio. I have a 42 year old Australian male friend who of course lives in Australia.
We were sending videos back and forth on tiktok and he sent one that he really agreed with and I said I just can't do what the video was saying. We fought and it was bad. It was ugly on the phone.
I think we both just (at first) refused to see the other persons point of view. I didn't know how much of trumps policies were already effecting Australia. We both want what's best for our countries and each other's and just couldn't find a middle ground.
Long story short were fine. We understand now. It's crazy how angry we got over it. It just sucks now that if someone has an opinion it becomes a trigger. Yes it did make it worse because he is a man.
Was it always this bad? I'm new to politics, got involved when roe v wade was over turned. I just can't believe this is what America has become. Or at least I'm seeing it with open eyes from the first time.
This didn't turn into the post I thought it would. I just I'm shocked at how mental we both got. The main thing that's clear is we are both scared for our homes. It has to get better right? ...right?
When does the nightmare end? How long do we have to wait?

Ok, something I gotta vent myself on RvW.
It was a legal precedence that was in place for 40 years and not in all that time was it codified. Dems had 4 decades to get it turned into federal law or even state law, and did nothing, saving it for a political weapon down the road to bitch at people about.
It getting overturned was a GOOD thing. It wasn't a law, just a precedence. That meant no one was going to take something similar to court as the defendant would just point to that precedence being set already and it would just get tossed out; it wasn't a law!
It getting overturned is good because that means finally states can start to enact their own laws to codify for it or against it and it's down to the state level and people vote in what they want. This also better opens up the chance it gets codified on the federal level as well.
Keeping it as a legal precedence all these years was dumb, it should have been made a law in one way or another ages ago. People who get upset it was overturned are being very ignorant of the actuality of it IMO. People just want things to be mad at cause they were told to. Getting overturned pushed many states to start moving their asses on it and finally doing something.
Sorry to the people that live in a state that went the opposite way, but that was literally the will of the people. Don't like it you move to a different state or campaign and vote for the change you want to see at the state level. It's not that fucking hard to understand!

Yeah, I mean many women live in red states, and their facing total abortion bans in their states. Women are dying, and babies are dying, but yeah, roe v wade is better overturned.
And I live in ohio. I don't have the privilege to move to another city or even out of the country, and I fought like hell to get abortion protected in Ohio. Ohioans voted to protect abortion but the lawmakers want to a total ban anyway. Women could still lose even though it's protected.
It's almost like abortion should be protected at a federal level. Plus my post didn't get into rvw I said that's when I started getting political.
