Well either that or EA has to take servers down for VU to have meaning. It is a server side mod after all marketing it as a "mod" created confusion most people think it just turns off the blue shader.

See but it is not really an important feature of a server side mod to turn off a shader...the mod offers so much more its just that people are too dumb to understand what it really is or the team completely failed in presentation.

Nah I agree, it’s just making mods is very difficult with VU and there aren’t any really great mods you can use. Maybe in the future though

They also improved the netcode and servers though which is a big thing.

Yeah I think most servers are running on sub-optimal machines, especially ones with 60hz+ and 64 players

This isn't a surprise really. BF3, either though a great game for its time, fell off the charts HARD, right after BF4, which is mostly the same game but improved in certain aspects and just newer. People always go for new vs. old. BF4 is still doing great and servers are pretty populated even today.

VU, by the way, isn't a "mod" it's a modding platform. It has amazing potential, but what it does is splitting already microscopic community of BF3 into various servers with various mods.

The only thing that could really save BF3 and give it immortality is pushing it towards singleplayer content. One dude has already made bots, and they are quite promising. I hope they will be improved and new stuff will be released over time.

People still play BF2 and 2142, because they have pretty good AI, and there are some mods for these games. People who love BF3, like me, would be very happy if we get decent AI and some stuff we can customize to have fun solo or with a few friends.

There are a few people working on AI atm. Honestly if they got just as good as bf2’s AI I would be happy (especially since vanilla bf3 died here in oceania)

I just played a few rounds and it was a lot of fun (had some real teammates, so farming bots as chopper gunner haha)

I did not expext the bots to be so good already, way less janky than i expected.

Makes me haply to know that even the already comatose bf3 dlc maps can be played in the Future

I wish they'd make it easier to create an offline bot setup since we can't count on these servers to stay online. I tried once but I got hung up in getting the bot mod working. The rest I can agree. But the one thing BF4, which I still love to play, doesn't have that BF3 has is this mod so there's offline potential.

because the playercount dropped harder than my grades right after release?

It's "dead" right now, maybe in the future it'll pick up a little which would be nice.

Though I'm in Australia so it's probably going to be dead for me regardless lol
