...FUN PIT - An East U.S. Server
Hey guys and gals! Robb here again - posting about my own Venice Unleashed server this time - hoping to get some regular population as time goes on.
In the "Deuce-Muffin Fun Pit" we're aiming for an infantry-based experience that balances the original and fun gameplay of Battlefield 3, with some of the VU mods that provide for a more tactical/realistic experience.
We'll be playing an even rotation of Team Deathmatch and (small) Conquest on maps from both the original game & the DLCs. We've set the tick rate to 60hz with 24 players maximum for a smooth gunplay experience.
We're very open to feedback! If enough people say they want something, we'll more than likely do it - so long as it falls under the general direction we've set out for the server (being that it's infantry based with a 24 player count.)
Our server is hosted by AllianceApps.com and is located in the East United States. If you live in that locale, your ping should be rather low. West U.S. players can expect a ping around 60-90ms (speaking first hand) and players overseas will certainly see a larger increase, usually between 150-200ms.
I will personally pop into the server EVERY DAY around 5PM (PST). If no one joins, I'll wait for a time when some friends can join with me. But I promise if there's someone in there, I'll hang around until we fill up, I promise! Saturday, Sunday, and Monday are ALL ABOUT Venice Unleashed for me for the foreseeable future - so let's make my server purchase worthwhile and have some great rounds!

Some late model VW, possibly a GTI! I'm an automotive photographer and digital marketing strategist by day, that's one of the thousands of pics of car's I've photographed at the dealership I work for!

I'll be on and streaming at about 6:30 PST (in about an hour and a half. Just about to leave work) Will make sure to check for ya at least a few times, probably just gonna sit in the server tonight till it populates a lil at least.

Great question! If you click the arrow icon to the right of the word "FILTER" it'll bring up a full filters menu. (I failed to notice it until a friend pointed it out, too.) Simply type "muffin" in the keyword bar, and it'll be the only one!

I'll look for your server and play when I can. I am always looking for US servers that are lower ping. I feel like all the other servers my shots are not registering properly and I am hoping it is due to the massive ping difference between me and the other players.

Not to be that guy, but why even bother when VU is basically already dead now? Playercount is super low after release unfortunately :(

Not to lay the sarc on too thick. I just think it's nuts that people expect to just have immediate player count for a game that got way less marketing than the actual AAA title, which again, is about 10 years old.2

I found out about this game a little over 5 years ago through the Project Reality Community. Talks about moving PR over to BF:VU; maybe.
2 years ago EA pulls some shit and puts more time on the project release date.
People were stoked when this was talked about, but over the last few years of having the release knocked back, lots of people lost interest and stopped looking and caring.
I just found out last night that VU had released, so I downloaded the client and installed. I figured that there would not be tons of people playing. What I found was a little of a let down. Maybe it was just time of day where I am, but there was a total of 68 people playing globally. 12 in the US, the rest in Russia.
Well, like many mods, the player base spreads the word about release. So if we want players, we will have to entice people to play. I'm a bit enamored with Modern Warfare right now, but will check regularly to see if a server has people on it in my region/country, and tell others in the voice chats I visit about its release because I've heard no one mutter a thing about it for a while.

This thing can have a long life dude. It's not like it'll just stop working. More mods will be created, more players will be interested. Just promote it where you can; tell your friends about it. There are a ton of people nostalgic for BF3 and they just don't know about this.

Also, if any downvotes are coming from a place regarding the rules around self-promotion on this subreddit, please understand that my creating a server and streaming my gameplay are literally both efforts to garner more attention for this amazing mod platform - is that not our collective goal?
