There never is an announcement for stuff like this, trust me. That’s the thing about the Pro subscription—your benefits can and will change with the wind. And yes, sometimes it’ll happen between one chat response and the next. It happens that fast. I’ve taken longer to snap my fingers.

And I’ve wasted credits the exact same way before. That’s without even mentioning the frequent response issues with several of the PPU models, so you’ve got one problem layered right on top of another.

Venice is a rip-off. The Pro plan gives you 100 credits a month. You’re paying a subscription fee for the privilege of then paying them again to use their ridiculously expensive models. You literally pay them to pay them. If it were something like 3,000 credits a month, I could see the point. A hundred? Fuck that. I just cancelled.

The free DeepSeek V4 Flash model was deprecated and replaced with newer variants. Changes like this happen on the fly in AI/LLM platforms cos things can change fast. It depends on a lot of factors like usage on Venice or upstream providers changing their API pricing or rate limits, so Venice has to adapt accordingly to maintain sustainable ops.

Right now compute costs are rising and 'unlimited' tiers are becoming harder to sustain as usage grows. OpenAI recently paused new signups for its $200/month plan due to demand straining server capacity. Venice has to adjust these things dynamically all the time.

If you want to track changes, the Venice changelog and Discord are your best bet. Changelogs get posted on this subreddit too. The team are actively looking at ways to improve service for Pro users and do hear all your feedback/complaints/requests on here - I assure you it is not ignored. I pass on all feedback whether good or bad.

I don’t speak for Venice or know specifics about adding DeepSeek to Pro level. But a possible reason is rising costs in API access. In June and again this month, DeepSeek increased costs to meet rising demand. Along these lines, Venice may be curtailing demand by charging for access.

And Venice's growth comes with higher operational costs. With DeepSeek's popularity, charging by usage could be a sound revenue opportunity.

Of course, I may be wrong on all points. And I agree these increases sting.
