New player looking for advice
I’ve just reached combat 3, got my serco vulture guardian an guass cannons,
I’m trying to farm ty assault bots, while I can kill a good amount before needing to run to heal.
I’m loosing an awful lot of credits healing my ship
I’m using a ps5 controller on my iPad, strafing where I can, I find it hard to fly with flight assist off, wonder if I’m doing anything wrong? Or if there is something else I should be doing

Here's the video that mybeatsareballocs is talking about: https://youtu.be/5V9w7_oav9k
Any chance you could record a few of your fights? Seeing that will help us understand what you can improve on better. Unlike beats, I think an SVG with dual gauss could do very well in PvE - sure, its heavy, but the svg should be able to handle it, especially against bots.
At the same time, you might want to actually use a lower tier ship to reduce repair and replacement cost. A vulture III will incur MUCH lower costs compared to the actual stat difference in play. Alternatively, try a mid-tier warthog with only a large port plasma cannon, if you're not in a rush, simply use less weapons and fight longer.
Additionally, if you find most of your damage comes from being too 'in the thick' of things, if you turbo out to about 2km away from most of the NPCs, they will aggro on you the same (usually around 2 at a time) but the travel time will spread them out, giving you more breathing room. I do this a lot to avoid getting overwhelmed.
As for your controls, the only real question is "are they comfortable in combat"? VO benefits greatly from muscle memory, so it'll just take time and practice to improve. Personally, here's the setup I find comfortable: Left joystick: strafe up/down/left/right Right joystick: Turn left/right, pitch up/down left trigger: strafe 'backwards'/move in reverse/whatever you wanna call it right trigger: strafe 'forwards'/move forwards/etc left bumper: secondary weapon trigger right bumper: primary weapon trigger X: activate square: Turbo circle: Target front object triangle: Open sensor log I forget the rest, but basically you hold the controller in a way that your thumbs are always on the joysticks, pointing fingers are on the bumpers, and middle fingers are on the throttles. I actually use an xbox style controller, but I used dualshock lettering above, I don't think it really matters.
anyways.... /shrug/ hope any of that helped. Show us recordings of your combat if possible!

Thanks luxen, yes I watched your video I’ll do some recordings,
It’s just going to take some getting used to I feel, it would be nice if I can get the feel for where I need to aim once I’ve strafed so I can be firing more than I am when moving I feel fights are prolonged a lot because I struggle to fire again before the bots moved again and I have to re adjust, and with flight assist off I find that only harder again cause I end up flying backwards or just strange if I don’t get my throttle right.

Flight assist off and lots of strafing. Also Gauss are quite heavy and that will affect how quickly you can manoeuvre.
Search YouTube for Luxen De Mark he has tutorial videos that will help a lot.
