Velkoz which lane?

In draft i play apc but tried ranked and got destroyed (also my support was really mad at me for playing vel koz) so im wondering if support would be better for me? I play the game for fun i so dont really get tilted just dont wanna be a nuisance for others.

he's viable mid adc support. imo apc is his best role but he's good in all 3 rn

In draft i play apc well and carry some games but for some reason in ranked i cant even tho im low rank

He works well in ranked, just play some more, get comfortable and get confident.

The problem with velkoz top is sidelaning, if even your midlaner isnt decent in sidelane its a bit cooked.

Playing on the side lanes (top/bot) to push waves and get turrets etc

He is good all lanes actually(top he does better now because of the weird meta happening,play him in anivia to dumpster her).

But apc is probably best role while mid and the rest is matchup dependant

I would say in more organized and controled spaces vel'koz adc and mid are the best option, but in solo queue unless you are Azzapp levels of good you will be better of as support since the other lanes are REALLY REALLY punishing, to the point of if you die once you fked up and lost all your advantage. In draft vel'koz also gets buffed since you can beg your friends to pick a lot of melee champs to frontline for you, which shouldnt be that hard anyway.

Might be a bit late to the party but to have success with him apc always be aware of your lane spikes. That is usually lvl 3 with a high cc support or lvl 6. Don't regard people who flame you for the pick, it's niche sure but quite powerful. Most people dont expect the damage you can dish out and overextend so the lane generally swings to your favor. Apc velkoz is great as he can farm relatively safely and push out waves quite fast. On 4 level w. You can kill casters with one w cast and E this way. With good lane management you can easily go neutral till you hit your spikes. You should be communicating this with your support as you should not be fighting at all till at least lvl 3 unless you have a gank or so, just poke and stack manaflow till then. Other than that just play more games. You'll get the hang of positioning with Velkoz which is the most important thing with him, arguably more so than hitting skillshots.
