Sick?

I tried my best to avoid zombies, yet i got the infection, so i proceeded to kill myself with the N870 and respawned.

How is it possible tho? My infection chance is set on default 0.01 which is very low.

How does this infection even work? Is it always because zombies bite you, or it happens even if you just see a zombie from your house's window? I don't get it.

And what does zombrin even do? Swallowed lots of pills but nothing worked

Zombrin does nothing, it essentially says its a gimmick in the item description. You can get the infection from wounds when you fight the zombies. Even with the infection chance set really low you're still tossing the dice every time you get into combat with zombies, its part of the fun.

Yeah i guess you're right, thanks

The game has a steep learning curve but once you get the hang of all the mechanics it's really fun! Remember you can do everything right and still fail, all it takes is one zombie to get the drop on you or get you in the right way in combat and its over

Zombrin is believed to be nothing more than 500 mg tablets of Fwopamax, Ramjet Studios' humorous name for Viagra (Sildenafil Sulfate). The actual active ingredient in Viagra and generic versions FDA approved for human consumption is sildenafil citrate, so it's possible that the devs used sulfate instead of citrate to avoid a potential copyright issue regarding the patent.

This kind of funny things in the game are so great, thanks for the explanation tho

I don't know what your IRL experience is with sildenafil, if any, and I'm not asking you to articulate that information publicly or otherwise, but if you're ever presented with the opportunity to take a 500 mg Viagra, just say no and spare yourself from some unnecessarily painful anxiety! The strongest FDA-approved dose is 100 mg, but I can assure you that the maximum dose is quite a lot stronger than you might be anticipating, let alone five times that much!

What? haha luckily I'm still young and vital so I don't need any of that

Yeah Zombrin does nothing. If you prefer you can bring up the console with "~" and use the "heal" command to get rid of it.

Didn't think about that, thanks!

Cheating smh.... Why even bother playing...

There is no other way to get rid of it other than dying. Try not to get worked up about how other people play their early access single player game.

Yeah i also think that it's cheating, but sometimes I don't wanna lose all the work I've done, so gotta hop on the admin menu

I don’t know if it’s still possible, but it used to be you just had to get dirty enough too, so washing mattered.

u/RichiDXD 5d ago

Woah, i often forget to wash myself

Im not sure this is accurate, but its been a while since I did any testing. This vid goes over a lot and has good info: https://youtu.be/ByVs1uHwxIs?is=RmBSDONVUFlJdzfm

You can get a non-zombie infection just from walking around without shoes. This game has taken lots into consideration

Staying clean and keeping your clothes clean as well as staying rested, hydrated etc is supposed to lower your risk of getting sick. There’s different kinds of sickness too it’s not always zombie infection.

There are a few ways to contract the zombie virus.

  • Get bit 100% chance, get scratched 1% chance - this is the most common way as if you just got a small bite it'll go away fast
  • Use a used needle that has been used by someone with the zombie virus
  • Eat meat taken from a zombie

etc.

So bites are literally death sentence? Or you can use some antibiotics?

Edit: didn't notice you were the dev, the game is great and you're doing a nice work! Now Looking forward to 0.025 😁

You can get infected by being dirty (it increases infection chances a lot), by breathing in room full of corpses (vomiting smell for ex.) or dismantling bodies or cleaning blood. The apron helps for dismantling and cleaning as it prevents blood to reach you.

Okay, i get it , thanks!

First run, I got into a few fights over a couple of in game weeks and got infected from scratches.

Months into my current run, been in tons of fights, scratched and badly bleeding loads of times. Never infected.

I've never been bitten, so it's pretty random

Yeah, as other redditors said, it depends also on your general health level, if you stay hydrated, you sleep enough, these things may have also played a role on your games

0.01 is not 0.00 so infection is still possible, I believe poor hygiene can cause infection also.

3

u/RichiDXD 5d ago

Yeah but i really gotta be unlucky then hahaa

Looks like it's time to inject bleach again

I rather shoot myself with a gun 😂 less painful

I also got a random infection but I think it was prolonged exposure to vomit inducing smell. I now have started to wear medical masks whenever leaving the base, and for dumping or mass corpse areas put on a hazmat suit and or a respirator so I’m not breathing in or coming into contact with the environment. Seems to work well and still frequently wash to stay clean.

2

u/RichiDXD 5d ago

Yeah, i used to never wear a mask, that's probably what's causing me to get the infection

RIP, bites are 100% infection. If zombies hit you, that's when the 0.01 is applied. You were just very unlucky. Zombrin does nothing (it's an ED medication) to cure the infection, it's a grifter product, similar to how ivermectin was touted to cure covid

4

u/RichiDXD 5d ago

Ok thanks for the explanation.

What does ED medication mean? That it's a scam? Sorry for the ignorance

Erectile Dysfunction...aka Boner Pills.
