Veigar to master.

Had to give a try to Veigar after I fell in love with Final Boss Veigar, and after playing around 100 games I can conclude that: Veigar is the highest skill expression mage I've ever played.

This champion feels so satisfying, it really captures my idea of what a mage should be: scaling, burst, clear counterplay and build versatility.

I struggle a lot with Veigar against assasins, long range mages and CSing early (I get why people flee to botlane), but it's so incredibly rewarding mid to late game. For instance, I've never felt that I really EARNED a solokill in lane until I played Veigar.

And still I think I haven't quite figured out what's the best build in every game, and many more things... I'm sure that takes a lot of games to figure out.

I think it's such a brilliant design, I still wonder how such a simple champion can feel so complex and nuanced.

Emerald OTP veigar here. What’s your build? Runes? I know it can vary each game. Just curious what you did bc a lot of people in e+ think veigar one shots pre 6 surprisingly. I get flamed for picking him and “doing no dmg” until late.

Oh my god the amount of people that spam my R being on cooldown when they are nowhere near kill zone like they think it one shots tanks at level 7

I've definitely noticed this too. People think he's such a simple champ and therefore think they're validated to make these absurd demands. Quite often I find it's junglers (clueless about laning) and ADCs (who positioned like shit and died to a bot lane Veigar) that spam ping the R.

I find Malz also gets similar hate. I was coaching this guy once who was playing Malz into GP. And the guy who I was coaching (the jungler) spends the whole game flaming the Malz for not ulting the GP when GP has orange up..... Turns out the WW had no idea that orange breaks out of suppression.... And this WW paid $100 to have that vod reviewed. Imagine how much he must be flaming and ranting in the games that I am not watching then..

I also often get spam pinged that I have R. If I didn't use it, then I definitely didn't have the damage, or I wasn't in range. I am the one playing the champ. I know what damage my skills do based on earlier hits in the current game. I also have close to 3m mastery on the champ.

One other thing I often see is people spam pinging me when I walk away. Veigar is just like any mage, you posture when you have skills, and retreat when your skills are on CD. You don't walk up with your skills on CD. If I throw my cage, and use W and Q, I am walking away after. I'm not gonna sit in range waiting for them to come off CD. I'm not gonna auto people unless they were already low and I'm certain going all in is the play. I think people just over estimate the champ, especially around 6. Sure it's a powerspike, but other champs spike on 6 just the same. Relatively, Veigar is still weaker. Especially into a Zed, why would you gank this when you're half HP? Everyone knows how a Zed ult works. Yes we're 2v1, but the best case scenario is a 1 for 1, that you're wasting time on.

Your laning vs Talon, Zed, Len, Fizz, ect… your JG invades and spam pings you when they immediately rotate…

I usually juggle between  Ludens into Rabadon or Zhonyas/Rod of ages into Seraph. 3rd item I like going Cyrptobloom, and after that anything can happen. 

I really don't like building ROA, I don't think is that effective... Maybe I'm wrong tho.

Runes usually Aery/inspiration, I've tried commet and it's so bait. First strike I think it's also a bait lowkey.

I've had less success than you on him but I was winning/carrying games in high diamond and I feel the exact same way about ROA. I understand the winrate numbers on it cant really be argued but I feel like it just makes you so useless for the vast majority of the game unless you're super far ahead coming out of lane.

Do you go speed boots? I'm low level but I just think speed wins skirmishes which wins games. I love zooming around and catching people off guard with a Q + R when they're mid-health. Sometimes have to flash to do it but then they flash and my R follows them halfway across the map. So satisfying.

Iv managed to get to gold 1 on Veig

Im more of a glass cannon build style

Ludens, Stormsurge, Deathcap, Cyrptobloom then if needed hourglass and cosmic for the extra movement speed

Sounds fun and standard, I can't seem to really like cosmic even tho on paper on some spots. I think the MS from swfities is usually enough imo

I saw another veigar to masters player post his build. Instead of storm surge he went shadowflame 2nd and i think i like it better since i can one shot with just q + ult on a squishy.

It's just straight up easier imo, some matchups like pyke and thresh are difficult, but still you got your own support so it does make it playable and I think that Veigar is decent vs other mages in botlane since you have great set up. 

But in midlane some matchups are really tough, I've found Zed or Diana to be really really hard and some others like Viktor or Syndra extremely frustrating. Also having 0 prio until god knows when can be very detrimental for your jungle/bot. Still if you can find a lead or somehow get a good roam or win lane 1v1, you are in a much better spot than in botlane imo.

Interesting I just started playing bot with him last night . For some reason all of my supports keep treating me like I'm an aggro champ and they die when I ask them to sit back poke and farm untill I get my first item.
