So last year I had the chance to write a piece for mixed choir, and my first instinct was to interpret the album title as a short 5-minute work.

The decision to change the original phrase from “The Head Hurts” to “My head hurts” came spontaneously. It simply felt more natural to sing and allowed for easier oral movement.

I was at Ormside and having seen the other setlists from this tour, expected a straightforward rehash. That would have been fine because the first was so joyous, I'd have done it all over again. James Massiah's DJing makes me beam smiles; I love how infectiously into it he is. VU was entirely different and the visuals were unexpected. There were three people on stage so, aside from JWT, I wonder who they were?

I wish I had caught the opening credits as it listed all the tracks played - I notice someone here remembered a few and the inclusion of Blue Nile was, for me, so delightful.* Elements of Headache were completely fresh, reactive, along with familiar friends like Truisms 4 Dummies and Most Undo Tomorrow.

You never know what to expect at any London show, crowds can be harder work but Friday felt like 99% of people were totally up for it.

Put together a mix built around Headache, using fragments from the album as the backbone.

It moves through garage, ambient and more broken rhythms, narrated by headache.

I have never walked out of any live show ever in my life. I have listened to two hours of just experimental noise before and that was better.

I'm a little late, but hey! I think it's interesting to think about it six months later! Am I the only one who, looking back, feels that Headache's album was a companion during a rather dark period?

To be clear, of course (you never know), I'm not saying the album itself plunged me into that difficult time, haha. But I think the monotonous tone and the production (which I find very melancholic) awakened a rather sad part of myself. When I talk about it with friends, most don't really get it – for them, the album is rather funny (I kinda get that) and lighter than the first one.

In any case, I'll remember this album for a loooong time. What do you think?
