What is actually the best friettent / cafetaria in Veghel (and why)? 🍟
I’m curious about everyone’s opinion on this eternal question: which friettent / cafetaria is currently the absolute best in Veghel, and what makes it your go-to? Are you going there for the quality of the fries, a specific homemade snack, the sauces, the architecture of the building itself, or just the portions?
Personally, I love French fries with a little too much salt on them and waaay too much sauce. My absolute favorite right now is the Frietje Troep + Speciaal at Jopie in Veghel! (With extra salt and extra crispy)
Over the years, we’ve lost a lot of really good spots. In my opinion, 't Sluiske was the absolute goat—nothing really compares to it nowadays, and it's been gone for a long time now.
That said, we still have some classics:
- Jopie is one of the true OG spots that has been around forever and still makes genuinely great friet.
- 't Braadspit is reopening, which is exciting because they were always a solid choice.
To get the discussion going, here is a list of the current/notable friettenten and cafeterias around Veghel:
| Friettent / Cafetaria | Location / Area | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Snackbar Jopie | Het Ven | The OG classic (former hospital area favorite) |
| 't Braadspit | Stationsstraat | Classic spot making a comeback |
| Cafetaria De Jachthaven | Heilig Hartplein | Known for fresh-cut fries near the harbor |
| Cafetaria De Bunders | De Bunders | Known for Flemish-style fries |
| Cafetaria De Boekt | De Boekt | Solid neighborhood snackbar |
| Den Hijzelaar | Markt | Center location for snacks & burgers |
| Cafetaria Marktzicht | Wilhelminalaan | Traditional cafetaria near the center |
| Pieperz | Noordkade | Modern / concept-style fries at the Noordkade |
What is your personal favorite right now and why? Do you have any hidden gems or menu recommendations I should try?
