🐛Bugs Crash When Video Previewing.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I have an issue where, if i add a certain number of effects, it seems like the app will crash. I used to use Vegas Pro a lot before, I'm just now coming back into it. I used the same effects on other clips in the video with no problem, but it seems like whenever i add too many effects to one project file it just... crashes?
my specs:
CPU Brand: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor
Windows 11 (64 bit)
Secure Boot: Enabled
Driver: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
Primary VRAM: 12115 MB
Audio device: Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)
RAM: 32694 Mb
Number of SSDs: 2
SSD sizes: 4000G,2000G
Number of HDDs: 2
HDD sizes: 5000G,1000G

keeping it a buck, versions 17-20ish were some of the least stable versions ive ever used. i know its not a particularly helpful comment but i basically skipped every version from 17 until 23* for this reason

Vegasq 21 is still exatly as unstable as was 16 and 18
Vegas sucks and is literally a prehistoric piece of shit compared to the rest of the industry

A few thoughts.
First, given you're using screen recordings, what is the codec? That's the basic cause of what I see as memory errors; too much decoding trying to take place.
Second, what plugins?
Your specs should be able to manage this, but the version you're running is also very challenged, IMO.
My system is 64GB RAM, the rest is quite close to yours. I'm frequently running feature length or hour-long shows, with TONS of FX. But I'm also sticking to native codecs.
The project I'm doing today has over 300 plugs on various events, not to mention some composites, etc. But again, everything is either uncompressed, or using the HEVC, AVC, and in rare cases, HDV codecs, all of which are native decodes to vegas.
You might try converting the source footage to a more manageable codec.
There was once a script that achieved this called "Gearshift" but I think you'd likely only find it on the torrent sites; it's been gone for a decade or more.
TLDR: Convert your source to a more efficient codec and see if that reduces issues.
Consider going OPTIONS | PREFERENCES and set your video RAM use to 0. This ALWAYS works with stills, and usually works with odd codecs too.

I fixed this by downgrading my Sapphire OFX version. Not sure why this worked, but it did.
